The Gallagher's Favorite Music of 2008

The stars pick their best tracks of 2008

Noel: The MGMT album, Oracular Spectacular. The video for 'Time To Pretend' was great. All the stuff about moving to Paris to shag supermodels and do heroin - not to condone heroin - it's like they want to own a Boeing 747 and be Led Zeppelin. Not plant trees at the local rabbit sanctuary. The Verve's single 'Love Is Noise', is the best thing they've ever done.

And Weller's album 22 Dreams! He takes such pride in what he does. He means it from the moment he gets up - it's scary. I was in the studio when some of it was recorded, and musically he does stuff I don't understand. It was mental. he and Steve Cradock talk in catchphrases. The only way anything makes sense is to get absolutely f**king arseholed.

Liam: The last album I bought was Duffy's Rockferry. That song 'Mercy', was alright. I like the Weller one; 'Push It Along' is a great tune.

I like The Last Shadow Puppets' album but it feels a bit grown-up.They're two young lads, but they look like little old men in Polo necks playing guitar, staring into each other's eyes like a couple of old farts. F*ck Off! I thought you were both in bands, anyway. Some of the tunes are all right.

      Guadalajara Tales

From Noel Gallagher's official tour diary on oasisinet.com

What happened there then? Seem to have missed a couple of days! That'll teach me to try keeping up with Ricky Hatton (safe journey home, lad - it's been a fuckin' pleasure!).

Been in Guadalajara for the last 48 hours (or is it 24? Fuck knows, I can't remember).

Met a woman at Mexico airport who asked me could I get her son any tickets for last night's gig.

"Tickets? Not my bag, love. I can put him on the guest list though?

"Tell him to bring i.d." I said. "Just in case there's any problemos".

"I.d.?" says the woman. "He has no i.d.. He's only 6!!"

    SIX!!?

City won away in Europe. Wonders never cease, etc. Fuck that "orange" kit though. Actually, its official title is "Blaze"! Either way, it's horrible. Get rid.

Couldn't tell you what the show was like last night. The crowd were so loud I couldn't hear much of anything else. They seemed to enjoy it so it's all good, I expect.

Incidentally, I may have tasted the greatest can of Guinness of all time last night. Quite unbelievable.

Just about to fly to Monterey. Not the one where they had that festival in the 60s (that's in California), but the real one about 5 hours from here.

    Gotta plane to catch.

    Hasta luego.

    GD.

Q and A with Alan McGee

Our UK partners SCYHO did a Q and A with Alan McGee a Scottish music industry mogul and musician famed for founding the independent Creation Records label which ran from 1983 to 2000.

    Hows Things Alan?
Good I'm a house dad and loving not dealing with idiots.

Did you ever have dreams as a child of being in a band and becoming a rock star?
I was in a band for real till 21, 'Biff Bang Pow' was a hobby band with Dick Green.

You will mostly be remembered as the man who discovered Oasis, are you satisfied with that? or do you feel there's still more that you would like to accomplish?
Bringing up my daughter really, and I like doing Death Disco and running clubs and DJ'ing but that's a hobby.

Other than those on your label, Is there a band from your time at Creation that you'd wished you'd have signed?
    The Stone Roses.

Apart from the albums Oasis released on Creation, what's your favourite album the label released?
Probably Trashmonk 'Monalisa Overdrive' an absolute classic, I released late 1998.

What do you think about Heavy Stereo's first album?
Good better than people think it is.

Do you wish Ride had stayed together longer?
    Yes I loved them.

What is your favorite moment of the 90's?
    Getting off drugs.

What are your memories of Primal Scream when they were signed to Creation?
All good we drifted apart as we got older, I got sober but I like their new single.

If they ever Make a film about your life who would play you?
Sean from The Vortex an Indie band from Manchester, I love that bloke.

Have you ever thought about writing a book about your experiences with the music industry?
They want me to, so I probably will.

If you could name a band Dream Team - who would be in it?
    Oasis 'Definitely Maybe' line up.

When you first saw Oasis perform did you ever imagine that one day they would become a defining symbol of Rock 'N' Roll?
    No.

What do you think is the best song Noel's ever written?....and did he ever give you a song where you thought "my god that's shit"?!
Don't Look Back In Anger, I never really got 'Gas Panic', but i love him the way i love Neil Young and I don't love everything he's ever done.

We know you consider Noel a genius, but what do you think about Liam's songwriting?
Getting really good, I really liked the 'Meaning Of Soul' Liam is a one off they broke the mould, he's a dude.

What do you think of the albums Oasis have released since leaving Creation?
I really like the new one.

Who were worse to manage Oasis or The Libertines?
I never managed oasis I signed them to my record company, on The Libertines no comment.

Will Oasis ever be inducted into the 'Rock n' Roll' Hall Of Fame?
    Should be, they deserve it.

If you had to choose....Would you rather have signed Oasis and nobody else. Or have signed all the other acts but not Oasis?
No i really only listen now to Oasis from the Creation days, none of the other music turns me on in 2008.

Are you still in contact with any of the original members?
Bonehead is a mate and Noel we have a text relationship with, when I see Liam it's cool, Guigsy I haven't seen for years as Tony McCarroll.

Is there anything you'd change if you could have the Oasis period again?
No glad I left when I did, I was burned out and had to go and do my own thing which i enjoyed.

Special thanks to Alan for taking the time and effort to do this for the site, it's most appreciated.

For more information on Alan visit his MySpace page here.

Status Quo : Oasis are Dull and Boring

London, November 29 (ANI): The frontman of Status Quo Francis Rossi has said that he thinks rock band Oasis is anything but rock n roll.

The rock veteran, who with fellow band legend Rick Pafitt will soon release their new single Its Christmas Time, said that he found the Manchester band dull and boring, reports the Sun.

He said: What always comes to mind is Oasis. They call themselves a rock band and they stand there looking at the floor. Bored s***less they look. Im not saying theyre a bad band, but that to me isnt rock n roll.

The lead guitarist concentrated much of his disapproval on Liam Gallagher, who along with older brother Noel Gallagher is the co-founding member of Oasis and the bands leading songwriters.

He added: That fella is still trying to pretend hes 20 and hes angry and really annoyed with his brother apparently. And he has got a really grumpy face and he has to stand there with the f*****g hump.

Now, I dont believe that anymore. I may have believed it some years ago but not still.

Oasis have often been dubbed as Quoasis in the past for ripping off Francis and Ricks three chord hit formula.

    source: ANI

    ================

WHAT have OASIS done to rattle the golden oldies?

A string of rock veterans have been queuing up to pick a fight with the GALLAGHER brothers recently.

Call yourself a rock band? ... Liam Gallagher

Last week I told you how SIMPLY RED frontman MICK HUCKNALL said he blamed NOEL and LIAM for giving tNorth a bad name.

Now it is STATUS QUOs turn. They say although Oasis may sing a song called Rock N Roll Star they dont know how to rock.

FRANCIS ROSSI reckons the Gallaghers are not a patch on him and fellow Quo legend RICK PARFITT.

Francis rants: Were from a generation of acts that are very physical, we put physicality into it.

But some of the younger bands dont want to put that physical commitment in, either because its not cool at the moment or whatever.

What always comes to mind is Oasis. They call themselves a rock band and they stand there looking at the floor. Bored s***less they look.Im not saying theyre a bad band, but that to me isnt rock n roll.

Perhaps Francis should get his stonewashed denims along to an Oasis gig Ive never witnessed much boredom on show.

Francis, who with Rick has a new single Its Christmas Time out next Monday, singled out Liam for most of the criticism, accusing him of being a one-trick pony.

He fumed: That fella is still trying to pretend hes 20 and hes angry and really annoyed with his brother apparently.

    Grumpy

And he has got a really grumpy face and he has to stand there with the f*****g hump.

Now, I dont believe that anymore. I may have believed it some years ago but not still.

Oasis have been nicknamed Quoasis in the past for ripping off Francis and Ricks three chord hit formula.

So Liam will already be well armed with a few words of his own about Francis and his dodgy ponytail when he finds out.

In the same interview Francis claims MUSE and SNOW PATROL are his favourite bands.

Accusing Oasis of being dull but then loving Snow Patrol? Hmmm.

Pop Quiz: Noel Gallagher of Oasis

You may not have noticed, but Oasis returned a few months ago with its first decent album in ages, "Dig Out Your Soul." After getting burned so many times, it's understandable that the mouthy British rock band's fans have thinned out since its mid-'90s heyday.

But the Gallagher brothers can still deliver killer quotes and make a nice racket in big venues, which makes them as valuable as ever. We spoke with guitarist Noel Gallagher, 41, shortly after he was attacked onstage in Canada. He couldn't comment on the incident but was happy to talk about the reception that the new album is getting. Oasis plays Wednesday at Oakland's Oracle Arena.

Q: Did you read the reviews of "Dig Out Your Soul" or is that something you generally avoid?

A: Oh, no, I don't avoid them. But by the same rule, I don't go out of my way to read them all. I've seen a few.

    Q: They were cautiously optimistic.

A: They're just the same Oasis reviews to me: "Some songs are good, the s- ones are s-, why are they still f- making music?"

Q: It probably goes back to your third album, "Be Here Now." Critics gave it such great reviews before realizing that maybe the music wasn't actually all that great.

A: They've never forgiven us for that. I'm quite proud of that. Yeah, so, I've read a few. They still do that thing where they slag you off for your lyrics, yet they print the wrong lyrics. It's like, hang on a minute, you're printing your f- lyrics, you're not printing mine. That's not what it says on the f- song, you doofus.

Q: Does it really make a difference?

A: No, it doesn't. I'm not sure what the overall goal is of a review. What is its point? Is it to guide people through the quagmire for them to say you should really be listening to this kind of music? If one has four stars and one has got three, does that mean if you're cursed with a choice in a record store you should buy the one with four and not the one with three? Is that what it is?

Q: Have you ever bought a record based on a review?

A: I've bought one or two, and I'm at pain to say this, but they were all f- great.

    Q: There you go.

A: No, the reviews weren't great, but the albums were great. I read a review, and if it mentions anything about the Beatles or the Stones or the Stooges or the Kinks, I'm like, "Well, I'm f- buying that." The albums I bought were American albums, funny enough.

Q: How about your live shows? People moan that you just stand there. Have you ever suggested to your brother Liam that he make a little bit more effort onstage, maybe watch a few old Rolling Stones videos?

    A: God, have you seen that film "Shine a Light"? Well, Mick Jagger takes it to the next level, man. It's f- ludicrous. But, no, Liam's turned the standing-still thing into a bit of an art form. We can't all be jumping around like f- Jumping Jack Flash, can we? Would it work if Liam was like Mick Jagger? No, it f- wouldn't. {sbox}

Mexico Football, Ricky Hatton and Hangovers

From Noel Gallagher's official tour diary on oasisinet.com

Well, Ricky turned up. Sven didn't. Mexico have lost a couple of games and apparently he's not flavour of the month. He thought it would be best if he didn't play out. He sends his regards though. Shame. I loved that man.

Gig wasn't all that, to be honest. We haven't played for 2 weeks and it felt like it.

Nursing a sore head today. Sat up most of the night drinking with Ricky. Feeling it now though. Good job we've got a day off. Not in any fit shape to do anything other than stay in bed and watch TV, which is exactly what I'm doing.

Flying to Guadalajara tonight. Gonna get me some room service now, so...hasta luego.

'Standing on the Edge of the Noise' Rehearsal Film

In August Oasis performed in their rehearsal studio prior to the start of their 2008/09 World tour.

Through Oasisinet they invited a few fans to join them for the final night of their rehearsals before they hit the road. Over 10,000 fans applied to go in under 24 hours for the 100 places on offer. The resulting film - 'Standing On The Edge Of The Noise' - is a unique, intimate look at the band performing in their own space, instead of the huge stadium stages on which they are more often seen. The programme includes a mix of classics and new tracks from the current album.

'Standing On The Edge Of The Noise' will air on Channel 4 this Saturday at 12:20am (UK ONLY).

The gig will also air internationally in the forthcoming months so be sure to check your local listings.

Mexico, Steve Jones and 'Where's Ricky?'

From Noel Gallagher's official tour dairy on Oasisinet.com

    Hola.

Sven-Gran Eriksson's coming to the show tonight! Can't wait.

We seem to have lost Ricky Hatton in a sea of Guinness. Fuck knows where he is. Hope he makes it.

Well up for this tonight. 22,000! SOLD OUT!! It only holds 16,000!! AY, CARAMBA!!

    In a bit.

New Oasis Photobook launched in London

Paul Slattery tells NME.COM about their early days on the road.

Oasis photographer Paul Slattery launched a book of rare photographs trailing the band in their early years prior to and following the launch of first LP 'Definitely Maybe' in London last night (November 26).

The snapper marked the occasion by laying on a small exhibition of his work from 'Oasis: A Year On The Road' at the Gibson Guitar Studio while the band's debut album was played on repeat.

From March 1994, Slattery had total access to the band as they criss-crossed the globe during their speedy ascent, which saw them going from playing small club gigs to sold-out arenas.

"The first gig I saw them play was in the 100 Club (in London) but within six months they were playing big theatres and I just thought, 'Shit, they're going to go all the way'," he explained.

"But I didn't realise they were going to do it so quickly though. Within a year they were playing Sheffield Arena to 10,000 people."

Slattery first hooked up with the band at Eden Studios in west London through mutual friend and band engineer Mark Coyle.

"I took a case of beer down there and I had unfettered access to the band," he said. "It was unbelievable because when you see a great band like that you just become a teenager again. I lost 30 years in one year."

The photographer, who shot the band in black and white, went on the road with them to Japan and the US, where he snapped a comical shot of Bonehead and tennis legend John McEnroe.

Slattery recalled: "There is a great picture of McEnroe in the book with Bonehead, who's pulling a funny face. He was always great to work with because he was like the clown prince of Oasis.

"When things were shit Bonehead would be the one that would go, 'Come on you fuckers, we're a rock and roll band we're going to have fun'. He kept people's spirits high."

But the snapper's favourite shot in the book and moment with the band depicted Liam Gallagher leaning into the crowd at a gig in Nagoya in September 1994.

He recalled: "Every single one of those pics has a story but I must admit that's the best. It was an amazing night and there was something special happening with the crowd.

"It was the first time I've ever seen them do an encore, and everybody at the end of that gig was just in tears."

As Oasis got bigger and access became more difficult Slattery stopped shooting the band, and has never worked with them since to this day.

"By that time things were getting difficult and it was harder to deal directly with Noel (Gallagher) because very few people had mobile phones in them days so I couldn't just call him up," he explained.

"I've not done anything with them since because I've always had that philosophy that I like to see bands when they are small and hungry - that's the excitement, and that's what rock and roll is all about."

      Noel Gallagher's Rolling Stone Interview

Noel Gallagher: " You have to see us in a league with the Rolling Stones "

On the eve of Oasis' tour with Ryan Adams, the songwriter talks drugs, violence and the secret to his success

Oasis are celebrating the holidays by hitting the road for a North American tour, which kicks off December 3rd in Oakland, California. There's much to be festive about: the band put out their finest album in a decade in Dig Out Your Soul and guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher has fully recovered from being attacked on stage in Toronto in September.

You've said yourself that you don't really need hits in America. Why do you still tour here?
I like the vastness of this country. In between each city when you're on that tour bus some of the stuff you see is stunning. It just took me awhile to understand the corporate nature of the music business over here. I never really understood why I would have to get up at nine o'clock in the morning, go down and see the guy who owned the local record shop and meet his fucking wife and fat kids.

What do you think the band has offer to an American teenager who is seeing you for the first time?
Nothing. Don't come and see us if you're expecting anything. I can't offer anybody anything apart from the music that's coming out of the speakers. And if they listen to that and they find some meaning in the songs, good for them.

OK, so you're not a spokesperson. What does the band have to offer?
Power. Musical power. Volume. Impeccable shoes. I speak for myself, by the way.

You and your touring partner Ryan Adams are both pretty opinionated guys with healthy egos. Do you get along?
Well, I'm pretty and he's opinionated. I got a lot of respect for the man. He's a great guitar player. He's a little eccentric. He wears stripy socks and platform shoes, but not everybody's perfect. I wouldn't be on tour with him if I didn't like him.

What did you find out about that guy who attacked you in Toronto?
Nobody knows why he did what he did. There's a legal case going on so they tell me I'm not supposed to talk about it. I'm sure the footage on YouTube says enough.

Has that kind of thing happened to you before?
No. I've never been violently attacked. Maybe by my girlfriend a couple of times when I stayed out later than I should've.

How did it affect you, other than...
Other than the fact that I got three broken ribs and I had five weeks off? Do you mean I wake up sweating in the middle of the night and think the guy stood over me? That kind of shit? Oh, no, not in the fucking slightest. It's a meaningless act. Something always happens to me on Oasis tours. I was in a car crash. If it's not that, it's getting fucking busted. If it's not that, it's coming down with some ancient fucking disease that's not been got by anybody for the last 600 years.

Is there something in particular that you'd like to achieve with this tour?
Five million dollars. Besides that, not really.

Have you pulled out any songs that you haven't played in awhile?
Yeah. "Slide Away," "The Masterplan," "Supersonic." We're not going to turn any new people on to Oasis. Oasis is a band that you either get it or you don't. Everybody knows who we are. You have to see us in league with the Rolling Stones now. Everybody's heard of the Stones, everybody knows what they sound like, everybody knows what they do. You either go because you like it or you don't. It's easy.

There was a time when the band didn't seem to be enjoying themselves in concert that much.
Well, I'm not sure about that. There was a few years where I really should've traveled the world with my girlfriend and shit like that but we decided to carry on putting out records. But I love being on stage. It's the one place where there's no bullshit. Don't get me wrong: It looks like I'm having a bad time. But that's because I'm not a fucking asshole that feels like I have to talk to the crowd every two minutes or put on a big smile or run up and down the stage like an idiot. I like to play that guitar. I have to stare at it while I?m playing it because I'm not very good at playing it.

What gets you off at a show?
If I'm singing well and I'm playing well, then that's enough for me. Obviously there are nights where you go off stage and think, "Well, that was a bit fucking shit" because there were technical problems. But I can assure you this: I am fucking brilliant every night I go out there. I could give a fuck about anybody else in the band. They look after themselves. But I am always cooking on a solid eight-and-a-half out of 10.

What do you do to do that?
I'm afraid I was born with it. It's not something you go out to Wal-Mart and buy. "Can I buy some brilliance please?" They don't sell that shit over the counter. You either got it or you don't.

How do you get back the high that drugs gave you?
Drugs brainwash you into thinking you can't survive without them. I was never in a mess mentally or physically. I have the constitution of a large ox. If anything, it was the people that I had surrounding me that were very uncool. I never needed to be on drugs. I just wanted to be on drugs because it was fucking brilliant. But then there came a point where I didn't want this anymore. So I wanted to be straight. And then there comes a point where you maybe want to be somewhere in between, which is where we're at now I think.

That you're able to take them occasionally and it's fine?
Well, I wouldn't say I take them at any point. But when I gave them up I gave up drinking and everything. But now I drink like a fucking fish and I smoke like a chimney. I've always been a magnificent drunk. I've been told by hundreds of people I'm actually a better person when I'm drunk.

Dizzee Rascal wants to work with Oasis

Rapper wants Noel Gallagher for new project

Dizzee Rascal has said he wants to work with Noel Gallagher despite the Oasis guitarist's opposition to Jay-Z playing Glastonbury this year

Speaking to BBC Radio 1, the British rapper said he did not believe Gallagher was against hip-hop.

"I don't think he hates hip-hop. Maybe he just felt a way about Jay-Z being at Glastonbury or hip-hop being at Glastonbury. He's into music," said Dizzee Rascal. "There must be some hip-hop over the years that he must've liked, or Liam. They're party animals, so somewhere they must've enjoyed some hip-hop track."

Dizzee, who collaborated with Arctic Monkeys on the track 'Temptation Greets You Like A Naughty Friend' in 2007, added that he was now keen to combine his and the main Oasis songwriter's talents.

"Yeah [I'd still like to work with Noel]. That's another thing to me like working with the Arctic Monkeys," he said. "Obviously they're [Oasis] older and they set their bar from earlier."

      Oasis' Fallen Empire

Earlier this month, Noel Gallagher opined that he abhors comparisons to a certain outfit from Oxford. "The biggest criticism that the music press has against us is that we're not Radiohead," the Oasis guitarist told Plavi Radio in Zagreb, Croatia. "Correct me if I'm wrong, they've been making the same record since Kid A, have they not?"

Aside from his rather surly disposition, Noel's chief character flaw has always been a dearth of self-awareness. It's essentially why Oasis' aesthetic has evolved very little since those budding early days of bar chords, root notes on bass, and 4/4 drumbeats. It's why, somewhere right now, Noel is talking glowingly about the Beatles. And it's why the group hitched its wagon to Britpop a cultural movement that centered on the dizzying rebranding of England despite the noted lack of an Anglocentric tinge to Oasis' canon. While Britpop contemporaries were achingly provincial (hear the social and generational malaise captured on Blur's Parklife, or the claustrophobic, smutty elements of urban life portrayed in Suede's self-titled debut), Oasis was relatively unconscious during an extraordinary stirring of national consciousness.

Sure, the band had the necessary gestures down pat: singer Liam Gallagher famously spouting, "It's the greatest flag in the world we're here to do something about it!" during his first visit to the Creation Records offices; Noel Gallagher playing a guitar emblazoned with the Union Jack at a 1996 show at Manchester's Maine Road stadium. However, penetrate that slick production work, pare away those fat melodies and overlapping guitars, and, well, you get some truth: The Biggest Band Since the Beatles was all style and short of those legendary mountains of cocaine no substance.

Post-Britpop, the vacuousness only deepened. Releases like 2000's Standing on the Shoulder of Giants and 2002's Heathen Chemistry further proved that the depth of Oasis' genre-mining related to its lack of focus. Nicking from countless English predecessors (T-Rex, the Kinks, the Stone Roses, etc.) wasn't enough of a sin; now Oasis was keen on making it all sound lumbering and banal.

Which brings us to Dig Out Your Soul, the group's eighth studio album and possibly the final nail in Oasis' pine box. Aside from "The Shock of the Lightning," where Liam cements his status as the most skillful vocalist ever at pronouncing long vowel sounds ("Love is a time macheeeeen/Up on the silver screeeeen"), and the poignant "I'm Outta Time" (Britpop's end theme if there ever was one), Dig Out Your Soul lacks any of the melodic verve and scuffed menace typical of the band's early efforts.

"Waiting for the Rapture" and "(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady" plod along underneath Noel's stock chord progressions and flat vocals. "Bag It Up" is a blues-bar stomp that's largely forgettable; it's then poorly rehashed later as "The Nature of Reality." And of course, no Oasis record would be complete without the Gallaghers' aimless nostalgia for You Know Who. Some instances are subtle: The opening drums to "Falling Down" are a nod to "Tomorrow Never Knows," while the coda to "The Turning" cribs from "Dear Prudence." Others border on idolatry, like the insertion of a John Lennon soundbite into "I'm Outta Time."

That spacious guitar-and-drum sound, those big rhymes and anthemic choruses they're here once more, Oasis still reaching for a pop grandiosity the group will never quite grasp. When Britpop was at its heady peak, the NME's Steven Wells made waves by panning the cultural movement, saying it was posturing typical of a faltering empire folks no longer gave a shit about. Fitting, really, because the same could be written of Oasis and Dig Out Your Soul.

Noel in LA: ' It's Good To Be Back '

From Noel Gallagher's official tour diary on oasisinet.com

Now then, it's been a couple of weeks. How's things?

Been in that Las Vegas for the last couple of days. Me and wots'iz'name were carrying Ricky Hatton's belts out for his world title fight against Paulie something-or-other. A great, great night. What a buzz! The atmospherics at Ricky's fights are unbelievable.

Met David Beckham for the very first time and I can tell you he smells magnificent!!

Fuck me, we had a proper drink up afterwards. Felt like a lump of shit yesterday though.

On the way to LA today. Got to do a couple of days of press then fly down to Mexico. Few gigs there. Back to the States for 3 weeks touring.

    It's good to be back.

    In a bit.

    GD.

Liam and Noel Gallagher lead Ricky Hatton to victory

Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis bring out boxer Ricky Hatton of England's belts before taking on Paulie Malignaggi during their light-welterweight fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in the early hours of this morning.

More pictures from the fight can be found here.

Ricky Hatton continued his unbeaten run at light-welterweight by outclassing Paulie Malignaggi with an 11th-round stoppage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Hatton, breaking from his trademark brawling style in his first fight under new trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr, looked a different class against the slick but light-punching Malignaggi.

The victory took Hatton's professional record to 45-1 (32 KOs) in the same ring he had suffered his only defeat almost a year earlier, a 10th round stoppage by Floyd Mayweather Jr at welterweight.

And it also sets up a possible superfight with the winner of the massive December 6 showdown between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao.

Malignaggi's trainer Buddy McGirt had climbed onto the ring apron and referee Bayless called a halt to proceedings, much to the American's annoyance as the Hatton fans chanted "easy, easy" in celebration of their man.

Oasis Bad Boy a Mellow Soul

He's had both of the Gallagher brothers in his taxi, the London cab driver tells me. The nice one and the naughty one.

He dropped off the nice one at his (nice one's) house at the height of the band's fame. Crowds were waiting outside.

"Then another time I picked up the naughty one, when he was still with his missus, Patsy Kensit," the cabbie says. "She was pregnant. I didn't really want him in my cab in case he started something, but he was with her, so it was all right."

Ten minutes later I find myself alone in a room with the naughty one, though this time Liam Gallagher, 36, is being exceptionally nice.

We're at the Roundhouse, the north London venue where Oasis is to take the stage as the closing act of the week-long BBC Electric Proms series. The gig sold out in 42 seconds.

Liam, wearing a black leather jacket and scarf, is in a chilled out mood.

He will be doing a special show with a 50-piece choir, but it's all in a day's work for the younger Gallagher. He would be at home, which is just around the corner, but his missus, All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, and her mates are "getting dolled up".

In 15 years in Oasis, Liam has earned a reputation as an enfant terrible, with antics including allegedly head-butting an Australian fan and being banned from airline Cathay Pacific.

Now, though, he's settled down with Nicole -- whom he married this year after eight years together -- and spends time with his three children. He gets up at 6am, goes for a run, likes to eat out early and is likely to be in bed by 10 or 11. He couldn't be happier.

    He admits he's mellowed.

"Not too much, though," he says quickly.

"You have to be when you get older and you have kids; it's your duty, innit? You can't go out every night drinking. I can't handle it any more -- the hangovers."

Noel and Liam Gallagher were the unlikely princes of British pop culture. Growing up in a rough area of Manchester with a devoted mother and unkind father, they had a fearless ambition.

They sang about living forever, not dying young and their music -- along with that of arch rivals, educated southerners Blur -- is associated with Britain's optimistic renaissance. They were the anti-grunge.

Staying true to rock 'n' roll, Oasis's latest album, Dig Out Your Soul, its seventh British No.1 recorded in the famous Abbey Rodd studios, recreates the magic.

In the foyer at the Roundhouse, where fans mill outside, photographs of Oasis's greatest moments line the walls, including two giant headshots, where the Gallagher brothers appear like Roman caesars, untouchable, godly.

A fan sums it up for me: "Their songs were about being from a working class background and being downtrodden and rising above that. And when you're a teenager you're always feeling downtrodden."

To Liam, music is as important as ever: "Yeah man, if not more important. This is my life. This is what I do. This is it. This is where I get my kicks from. This is what makes me feel untouchable."

On stage, Oasis is whipping up an electric mayhem as the crowd almost drowns out the 50-piece choir.

In the dress circle, the band's partners and celebrity friends move enthusiastically.

Suddenly, a spotlight singles out a certain celebrity and the band stops.

The crowd erupts into a frenzied football chant: "Who are ya? Who are ya?"

It's actor Daniel Craig, or as Noel points out: "Bond, James Bond."

Dig Out Your Soul contains three Liam-penned numbers, including the current single, I'm Outta Time.

A WISTFUL, romantic tune, it could have been written by the ghost of John Lennon and at the end of the song Lennon's voice can be heard in a quote recorded just before his death.

"I've always thought it would be nice to have someone speak on it and obviously John Lennon's the man. So we went through these tapes and that was the first one that pops out. Sometimes you get lucky. That was the magic in that. It just fitted straight away," Liam says.

Liam's love of Lennon is no secret. He even named his son after him.

"He's just the best. He's a f------ dude, isn't he? He's got a great voice. A funny personality. He didn't give a s---. He didn't take no s---. I'm not obsessed with him. I like his music and I like his voice."

At Abbey Road studios, Liam says he definitely felt the vibe.

"It's the best studio in the world. That's where we should make our music all the time. That's why our record sounds good. Obviously our producer's good and that, but you can hear Abbey Road in it. If you don't make a decent record at Abbey Road, you shouldn't be making music."

Liam doesn't think much of the current crop of enfant terribles dominating the tabloids. Instead of mixing a little drugs with their sex and rock 'n' roll, they have let drugs take over their lives.

"Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse? They're f------ scumbags, aren't they? They need to have a wash. Apparently they're really talented. They're talented at being scruffy I know that. I don't care for them. They're grubby little bastards."

Liam's relationship with Noel has weathered many storms. More like colleagues than family, the brothers don't hang out socially. Liam prefers to be in bed by 10pm, while Noel's out with his celebrity mates.

"We were never that touchy-feely, cuddly brothers kind of thing anyway, so it's still the same sort of. We don't really speak that much," Liam says.

"We only speak when things need to be said. The thing is about our relationship, there's no bulls--- involved."

R ECENTLY in Toronto, Noel was attacked on stage by a fan. Liam was ready to get into the ring to protect his brother.

"Without a doubt. I think he'd do the same thing. I'd do it for any of them. Without a doubt. You have to look after your brothers, haven't you?" he says.

Liam now has two sons, close in age. What legacy would he like to pass on to his children?

"Just to be themselves, man. Nobody's perfect. You wouldn't want to be. Be yourself. It don't matter what people think of you. That's the only thing."

Those words sound familiar. The words are echoed in the first line of Supersonic, Oasis's first single released in 1994: "I need to be myself, I can't be no one else."

"It's not about everyone liking you. As long as you like yourself, then you'll be all right," Liam says.

Oasis Exhibition at Snap Galleries London

Snap Galleries is currently showing an exclusive exhibition of Oasis photographs by Michael Spencer Jones . Michael's images appear on the covers of Oasis first three studio albums: Definitely Maybe, Whats the Story Morning Glory? and Be Here Now and eleven of their early singles, from Supersonic through to All Around the World.

For the first time, Michael is bringing together and exhibiting photographs from every one of his Oasis albums and singles sleeve sessions, a new limited edition book, a lavish portfolio box set of 15 individual window mounted photographs, a new collage featuring over 100 different Oasis photographs, and if all that wasnt enough, some other surprises as well.

The portfolio box is a really beautiful piece of work - a 21st century update on David Baileys 1965 Box of Pin-ups project, with a price as keen as mustard. It wont stick at the launch price forever, but we have set it very much with the credit crunch in mind. Limited editions are available to purchase, with prices from 95 to 13,950.

The exhibition is currently running at our showroom in Covent Garden in London up until Christmas and will run in our Birmingham gallery at Fort Dunlop from Saturday 6 December 2008 until Saturday 28 February, 2009.

Mojo Goes Behind the Scenes With Oasis

OASIS: Bring it on, you little dicks! On the road and behind the scenes with the biggest band in the land, MOJOs Pat Gilbert enters the inner sanctum of Oasiss sold-out UK tour to discover the secret story at the heart of Dig Out Your Soul. Weve been to the dark side, reveals a typically candid Noel Gallagher.

In the latest issue of MOJO magazine (on sale Tuesday) Oasiss Gallagher brothers unveil the latest and possibly the strangest of their infamous spats.

Involving Liams sudden flit, in the middle of sessions for Dig Out Your Soul, to get married without warning, it would prove to have massive repercussions on the record they were making.

If nothing else, the contretemps illustrates that almost 15 years since Oasis began their triumphant march into British music history their fire burns as fiercely as ever. Band members have come and gone, decade-defining songs have been locked into the public consciousness, but that fractious relationship between Noel and Liam Gallagher remains the propellant force behind a seventh Number 1 album, a sold-out UK arena tour and the prospect of three sold-out nights at Wembley Stadium next summer.

MOJO magazines tour piece for which writer Pat Gilbert was allowed unprecedented backstage access is haunted by the after-effects of the September 7 attack on Noel Gallagher at Torontos V Festival which left the guitarist with three broken ribs and a reliance on powerful painkillers ("It's like walking on sand," he admits). But, as MOJO can exclusively reveal, the boat had already been rocked by a decision made earlier in the year.

At mixing sessions for Dig Out Your Soul in Los Angeles in February singer Liam Gallagher had yet to record a single vocal, and the atmosphere was edgy. Then, as Valentines Day loomed, the Oasis frontman split for London and a surprise wedding, splicing with partner Nicole Appleton after eight years and two children together. Yet he invited none of the band, and informed none of them of his plans.

I was f**king furious about it, Noel tells MOJO. I dont give a shit about the fact he didnt invite me to the wedding; but when it affects our work it infuriates me.

The impact was critical as two tracks slated for inclusion on the record one described by Noel as an epic Champagne-Supernova song with backwards Are You Experienced-type rhythms were left incomplete. Consequently, Dig Out Your Soul hit the shelves with reduced psychedelic potency, and two tracks Get Off Your High Horse Lady and Aint Got Nothin originally intended as B-sides.

As usual, Liam remains defiant. It was private, he tells MOJO. Our Kid should get over it. I wouldnt be upset, I wouldnt want to go to his wedding anyway.

With some observers concerned that Oasis had swopped inspirational mayhem for pipes and slippers, the palaver is strangely reassuring, and the revelation is unlikely to harm their revitalised career. Plus a fookin change, say the experts, plus cest la fookin mme chose.

LIVE & DANGEROUS! To read our mammoth 13-page world exclusive Oasis tour report, be sure to pick up a copy of MOJO on sale from Tuesday, November 25!

Liam Gallagher Shows His Soft Side

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher gave money to a homeless man after eating out in London last night (November 19th).

The singer was surrounded by photographers as he handed over a collection of notes.

Gallagher had been to the capital's popular Nobu Berkley restaurant before being stopped by the man.

As previously reported on Gigwise, Oasis will embark on their biggest ever UK stadium tour next year in support of latest album 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

Coventry trio The Enemy and Kasabian will act as support on the tour, which includes three night residencies in London and Manchester.

Simply Red Star Has Some Words For The Gallaghers

Mick Hucknall has risked reopening a war of words with Oasis after claiming the Gallagher brothers have made northerners look like a clich

In an interview for the new edition of Q, out on November 25, the Simply Red star accused Noel Gallagher of making the north sound stupid.

His comments come after the dust had settled on a ten-year-old dispute between the Hucknall and Oasis which saw the singer brand Noel a dickhead in an interview and reportedly led to a scuffle with Liam.

But in the interview for Qs regular A Round With . Feature, Hucknall revisits their feud. Asked if he had seen the footage of Noel being attacked on stage in Toronto, Hucknall said: No. Was that for making the North sound stupid?

Asked to explain, he added: I think its fair comment. I love that Harry Enfield sketch when [Kathy Burke as Perry] comes back from a weekend in Manchester walking like this [affects cocky Liam Gallagher gait] and goes, F***kin sound. Bangin!. Theyve made a clich out of presenting Northerners, especially Mancunians, like that.

      Courtney Love's' Liam Gallagher

Although Liam Gallagher did not manage to make the The 100 Greatest Singers list in Rolling Stone Magazine's recent poll of fellow peers he can always count on Courtney Love's approval going his way. Rolling Stone published 25 voting ballots for a behind the scenes peek on who some of the stars picked as their favorite singers. Liam ranks a high #18 in Courtney's heart......

      The Soul of Noel

It may have been a long time coming, but Noel Gallagher is a new man these days. At 41, the Oasis leader is older, wiser, and altogether calmer a far cry from the hard-partying hedonist who frequently got into fistfights with his vocalist kid brother, Liam, both onstage and off. Now a mature father of two, the guitarist has not only come a long way from the bands Britpop-defining 1994 debut, Definitely Maybe, but is now prone to penning deep, reflective processionals like those featured on Dig Out Your Soul, the latest set from Oasis, which instantly topped charts around the world upon its recent release.

After a few surreal wake-up calls of late including the horrific experience at Torontos recent V-Fest where a crazed audience member angrily attacked him onstage for no apparent reason Gallagher has revamped his life philosophy. I dont have an all are welcome kind of policy, he notes soberly. My own thing now is that I know whats best for me. Other people can tell me whats best for them, but to me its all live and let live. But I dont let people into my life, and I dont try to walk into their lives. As long as I know who I am and stay true to my self, then everythings cool with me.

Gallagher may have changed, but get him talking, and that old sardonic snarkiness starts to resurface. Oasis diehards wouldnt have it any other way.

The Wave: On the new albums bonus-disc track, Lord, Dont Slow Me Down, you sing Ive got a habit that the cat wont lick. What bad habits do you still have?

Noel Gallagher: Smoking and drinking, I still do that. But apart from that, not many.

TW: You look remarkably slim and healthy for your age. Did you change your diet, start working out?

NG: About three years ago, I suffered real bad back problems. I went to see a guy in London, and he sent me to a sports therapist, who said, If you dont start doing some exercise, in about five years youre gonna be f***ed. Ive always shied away from exercise, pretty much because of the clothes, the gear you have to wear when you do it. But I got so addicted to it, I kept it going. I went and actually did boxing I put the gloves on. So we did a bit of that, and just getting on these fairly complicated machines that strengthened my back. But I got so into it, I was doing it three days a week. I think the key is, if you exercise, you can eat whatever you want, so I havent changed my diet in any way.

TW: When you were boxing, did you go a round or two with anyone?

NG: No, it wasnt real boxing. It was just gentle sparring. And Ive got to say, I wasnt very good at it. The thought of it is better than the actual doing it. Id get my face smashed in if I was in the ring I dont have the killer instincts.

TW: Are you still recovering from the incident in Toronto where you were tackled on stage?

NG: No, no, no, its all fixed, its all gone and its been two months now, really. He broke three ribs and bruised another five. Why? I dunno. Hes been up in front of a judge in Canada and the case was adjourned, so nobodys heard his explanation yet. But he hasnt got an explanation hes just an idiot. There is no logical explanation for why people do things like that.

TW: Youve often said that youve learned a whole new way of walking through urban environments, where you stare straight down at the sidewalk and never make eye contact with potential nutcakes like that.

NG: I live right in the middle of the West End in London. Its surprising how much privacy you get when youre just surrounded by millions of people. I dont get noticed at all. So I guess being in the eye of the hurricane, thats where the calm is. If I was to be the famous rock star down at the end of a leafy street in the suburbs, youd get more hassles because everybody would know where you lived. But I live right off a main high street, and nobody bats an eyelid at me.

TW: I thought youd moved to rural Buckinghamshire.

NG: Ive got a place there, too, but I moved because I kinda missed the heartbeat of the city. There are only so many months of the year you can spend in solitude. I like to hear police sirens; I like to hear the choppers overhead. I like to hear traffic, because it gives me a sense that Im part of something. But Im lucky enough to have two places, so when I get pissed off at the city, I can go live in the country for a while. But Im always drawn back to the city, because thats where its at. I like to be surrounded by people.

TW: Dig Out Your Soul touches on death, religion, and the question of the hereafter. Those are some heavy issues.

NG: A lot of people have said that. Im not a morose person that would think about mortality a great deal. But for my own part, I find writing about God and religion interesting.... Im not really a believer in any sense, but Im curious about the imagery of it all. And Im fascinated by people who are so into religion in a big way. You live in America and I live in England, but you know the religion Im talking about.

TW: Well, its only the fundamentalists who demand that you believe just as they do.

NG: You just hit the nail on the head. You can worship whatever you want, but you cant then say that Im not allowed to worship nothing. Its like, You just be cool and be happy with who you are, and Ill be cool and be happy who I am, and the world will be a better place. Thats my ideal for living. If you believe it and it makes your day-to-day existence better, if you can insert that kind of thing into your life and it works for you, then brilliant. Personally, I dont need to believe that I will find redemption or that there will be a God who will judge me at the end of all of that. I believe that you get one shot at this, and its on Earth, so Im not waiting for a second chance when I walk into the light. When they finally put me in the ground, thats it. Its over for me, done. I will rest in peace.

TW: So when you say Dig out your soul, do you believe you actually have one to dig out?

NG: Liams always bangin on about soul and blah, blah, blah, but Im confused as to what it means. To me, its music. I listen to Motown and think, Well, thats got soul, but I dont know what that fu**ing means. The line comes from one of Gems [Archer, band guitarist] songs, and its actually when youre at a party and someones putting on a record, its like, Can you put a soul record on? Dig out your soul! Like in a DJ type of sense.

TW: The new album has that hip-shaking, vintage-soul groove all the way through.

NG: That wasnt the plan going into the studio. Weve got more British rock n roll songs in the bag that we intended to record, but our producer, Dave Sardy, heard two or three songs that had that groove and said, I need some more songs like this do you have any? And I said, Well, not really, but Ill write some! And it was the first time we ever let him direct the whole piece. I wrote the bulk of my songs in the studio, and weve hit on the novel idea that every other bands been doing for the last 15 years: Hey, lets let the producer produce it!

TW: Returning to what we were initially discussing, its not so bad to actually slow down a little, right? Youve got kids now you need to stick around.

NG: Oh, yeah, totally. Its not cool to be into drugs when youve got children, no matter which way you look at it. You have a responsibility to see them grow up, and then you have a responsibility for them to see you as a role model, I guess, in that this is how one lives ones life. I mean, I dont want my kids to grow up and think I was never there, physically or mentally. I want them to see me as as just plain old dad.

      Noel Gallagher Thwarts Dog Napping

We never had Noel Gallagher down as a Bond figure, but he scared the Living Daylights out of a gang of wannabe dognappers.

The Oasis star stepped in when he saw the lads, who wore hoodies, trying to steal a black labrador belonging to a former Bond Girl.

Noel gave them a right ear-bashing and threatened to take them all on leaving them shaken and stirred. Give the man a Dog Licence to Kill!

Noel, 41, was near his 2.5million mansion in central London when he saw the youths trying to nab a dog tied up outside a supermarket.

Having seen the pedigree pooch going walkies with owner Caroline Munro, 58 buxom star of The Spy Who Loved Me he barked at the thieves. The gang fled instantly, with their tails between their legs.

A neighbour tells us: Noel was so brave the blokes could have been carrying knives but he just didnt care.

Hes a tough bloke and he doesnt like people taking what isnt theirs.

So he tackled them and they quickly did one.

The lucky lab was then reunited with Caroline who played ill-fated helicopter pilot Naomi in the 1977 Bond movie. She showered Noel with thanks after the incident, earlier this month.

We hear: The dog is the cutest little thing and wears a red neckerchief.

Caroline takes him everywhere even to the pub.

So she was ever so grateful for what Noel did. Shed have been devastated to lose him.

It is not the first time that Bond-fan Noel has tried to muscle in on the fictional spys patch.

At the Electric Proms in Londons Camden, Noel told Daniel Craig: Get me the next James Bond theme tune, instead of dopey Americans.

He could do a new version of Wonderwall Thunderwall, anyone?

      Noel Gallagher Interview with Relix

Noel Gallagher: 'I'm Not Ashamed of Anything I've Done'

The rampant ego, unapologetic hedonism and regular punch-upsthese are the reasons everybody loves Oasis. But with the groups seventh studio album, Dig Out Your Soul, trading the usual assortment of drab pub-rock anthems for lush grooves and far-out melodies, people are once again paying attention to the brothers Gallagher for their music.

Even a few days after getting attacked by a crazed stage-invader in Canada, the Britpop groups guitarist and chief songwriter Noel Gallagher, 41, remains typically defiant: My glass is half full at all times!

You called the album Dig Out Your Soul but its not this huge confessional epic, is it?

No. That title is there out of necessity because I couldnt think of a decent one. Ironically enough, as soon as the albums were printed I came up with six in half an hour. I dont know what it means but the album is not hugely confessional, no. I have no confessions left at my age.

Was there a time when you did?

No, because to confess anything it means youre ashamed of it. Im not ashamed of anything Ive done or said or wore. Confessions would lead one to believe that one believes in some sort of redemption from some sort of god or another and I dont live in that world. I shouldnt apologize for anything Ive done.

Do you see music as an emotional outlet, say, if you have a particularly bad day?

I have to say, and this goes right back to my youth, I dont have bad days. Never. I mean, Im going through a pretty shit bit at the moment because I have a few broken ribs. Other than that, I dont have bad days. I dont say that to be a smart-ass or trick you in any way. Its like, what could possibly ruin a day?

You obviously have a different disposition than the general songwriting population.

    Well, yeah. Thank god, eh?

Do you think music should be about escapism?

To me, thats what its about. My favorite bands were always at their best when they were singing songs about people that didnt exist and situations they never got into. As soon as they started singing about how shit it was being a heroin addict I was like, Ive had it with this fucking whining bit. You know what I mean? Lets move on. I aint into all that. So your mother left you when you were a child? Join the fucking club.

What were the bands that made you want to pick up a guitar?

It started with The Beatles and then went into Sex Pistols and then The Smiths and The Jam. I fucking loved The Smiths. But Im not as literal as Morrissey and didnt envision ever becoming half the guitarist Johnny Marr was. When I saw The Stone Roses it was like, I could do that. The songs they were writing didnt seem to come from another planet. They spoke to me. A door opened and that was it.

With the exception of The Stone Roses, all those bands broke up while they were still at the top of the pile. Do you ever think Oasis should have called it quits after the massive Knebworth concerts?

It would have been super fucking cool to announce it onstage and then get in a helicopter and fly off and that would be it. But then it would have spoiled everybodys day. Looking back on it, we were all addicted to one thing or another. Youre addicted to the attention that fuels the drugs that fuel the ego that kind of thinks you can go on and do it forever. In the cold light of day, I can sit here and say we probably should have just disappeared. Instead, what we did is went in the studio and tried to make another record while [(Whats the Story)] Morning Glory was still on the charts. It was insane. But those were great crazy fucking days.

Didnt you think you were going to make 12 classic records?

Oh, absolutely. I still think well make 12 classic records. It might take us 25 albums to get there but well get there in the end.

Music Videos for the Deaf : Don't Look Back in Anger

A wacky music lover has become a huge hit on the internet after using sign language to make pop videos for the deaf.

Hundreds of thousands of people have viewed Tyrone Whittles unique interpretations of classic tracks by The Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, and The Smiths, which he performs in public.

The 43-year-old can be seen signing the lyrics to the songs as he strikes some unusual dance moves in public places ranging from trains stations to shopping centres.

Tyrone has built up a massive repertoire of other hits on YouTube by bands such as The Verve, The Cure and Coldplay.

The smooth mover started performing his routines after a life-long interest in using movement to communicate and in a bid to impress his former partner.

After learning sign language through a book, and refusing to allow his lack of dance practice to hold him back, his reputation blossomed.

.... Dont Look Back In Anger by Oasis has attracted 20,000 hits, while I Know Its Over by The Smiths has gone 5,000 better.

Kasabian Ready to Rock on Oasis Tour

Kasabian have said they're looking forward to playing with Oasis after long-term fan Noel Gallagher invited them on their stadium tour.

Singer Tom Meighan said: "The fact he likes us is just nice, it's a plus."

Kasabian will play as guests of Oasis over seven dates in June and July next year, concluding the tour at Wembley.

After a relatively quiet 2008, the band say they can't wait to get back out on the road when the third album comes out in the New Year.

"There's gonna be a hell of a lot of noise," said guitarist and singer Serge Pizzorno.

"It'll be almost deafening I think, we'll be banging on everyone's door."

"We're just going to tour tour, tour, tour," added lead vocalist Tom Meighan.

"We're gagging to get back out you see, after some time off. We're real on stage, that's who we are and there's not many people left like that anymore."

"It's a great line-up and the chance to play to all those people is a gift," added Serge.

Not to mention of course, the chance to make some of the festivals squirm.

"The problem is all the same bands play the same year. You get the same headliners, nothing really happens.

"We might just not do any next year and just wait until 2010. Then when we do turn up, everyone's gonna be like: 'Wow this is going to be special, this is going to be incredible', rather than: 'Oh it's them again. And again."

You won't get any disagreement from Tom, who is not the world's biggest festival fan either.

He said: "I don't really enjoy it. I don't really like hanging around.

"If we're playing it's great, but the toilets, the portaloos, the whole situation's horrible. Stick me in a hotel room or something, I'm alright."

"Then again," argued Serge, "When festivals are special, when things happen, they're the most amazing places to be."

The band got briefly reacquainted with their fans at the Union Chapel in North London over the weekend - where they performed as part of the Little Noise Sessions in aid of Mencap.

      Hatton fans in Manchester One-Two

    Presser:

viagogo, Europes leading ticket exchange, has seen ticket demand soar for Oasis mini-tour in Mexico as Ricky Hatton fans look for a famous Manchester double header.

Hatton lines up against Paul Malignaggi on Saturday 22nd November in Las Vegas, with his fellow Mancunians, Oasis, beginning a run of three dates in Mexico four days later. Fans clearly have their eye on an extended celebration with hundreds of people snapping up Oasis tickets at the same time as securing their tickets for the big fight.

Noel Gallagher is due to carry Hattons belt into the ring and the boxer intends to return the compliment by taking in the Oasis shows. His fans will be following him from the ring to Mexico for a night out with the Gallagher Brothers, with tickets trading for around 100 on viagogo for the show at the Sports Palace in Mexico City on Wednesday 26th November.

Hattons loss to Floyd Mayweather at the MGM Grand this time last year has not stopped fans snapping up tickets for his return to Vegas. In fact viagogo has seen more than twice the number of tickets traded for the bout against Malignaggi than Mayweather. Tens of thousands of Hatton-ites are expected to descend on the gambling capital of the world to roar their champion home.

Eric Baker, CEO of viagogo: Ricky Hatton fans are the most passionate fans in boxing and weve seen a huge demand on viagogo for his return to Vegas. Oasis and James Brown Tunes at Hatton's Gym

RICKY HATTON reckons he will be top of the pops in more ways than one when he faces Paulie Malignaggi on Saturday night.

Superstar rock brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher will carry his IBO and Ring Magazine belts into the ring before the bout gets underway.

And in Hatton's personal chart he has placed them at No4 as he spoke for the first time about his Oasis pals.

He said: "Noel and Liam are going to carry both of my belts into the ring.

"When I think of the most important things in my life, there's my family first and Campbell my son, then I've got boxing, next comes Manchester City, then it's Oasis."

Hatton came close to persuading the Gallaghers to perform in the ring but schedules blocked it.

The Hitman, 30, added: "If they wanted to perform before the fight it's something that could happen. At the moment theyre touring America and it might not be the right time.

"They're coming to the fight, staying over and then they fly out the next day.

"I'd be happy to let them put on a performance but maybe after this fight and possibly for a future fight.

"I'm sure they would love it and I'm sure we could look at it at a future date."

Hatton has been blasting out Oasis CDs as he prepares with new trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr for his first fight back in Vegas since he lost his unbeaten record to Mayweather Jnr last year.

But it has not gone down too well with his trainer who has had Hatton running up the mountains wearing massive combat boots.

He said: "The first day I went into Floyd's gym all I could hear belting out was James Brown.

"I thought 'What is this s***e?' so I took it off and put on some Oasis.

"Floyd was slagging me off for my taste but it was good fun.

"I'm a bit of a karaoke merchant. There aren't many songs I don't know Floyd has started calling me the white Luther Vandross."

As for the boots that have been like anchors around his ankles, Hatton added: "I look like Sylvester Stallone in Cliffhanger.

"It's really hard work with the air being so thin and I'm running at nearly 8,000ft above sea level.

"I've never felt as tired as I do after a session with Floyd but I feel better for it."

      Liam's pal has a brilliant ID-ea

Liam Gallagher is backing a brilliant new fashion accessory that could save lives on wild nights out.

The Oasis frontman, pictured with the new invention backstage at a recent gig, was introduced to UTag by his head of security.

Its a genius device a dogtag with a memory chip holding your address, next of kin and important medical information.

Former SAS soldier Phil Campion, a pal of the Oasis camp, had the idea when in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He said: Authorities can get in touch with your loved ones straight away. Liam was keen for his kids to wear them.

The tag costs 24.99 from utagice.com. Phil is making a donation to Sun-backed charity Help For Heroes for every one sold.

Using Gym Etiquette With Liam Gallagher

Now its official...Im cool. Why? Because Liam from Oasis said so!

THERES an unwritten code of conduct we all have to follow when were working out in the gym.

Youll see the notice on the wall about wiping down the machines when youre finished, not using mobile phones, and stopping if you feel breathless.

But these other rules are just as important.

They govern how we interact with the men and women whore training at the same time as us.

You wont find these rules written down anywhere and theyre rarely talked about, which is why so many of us feel awkward trying to get them right or get them totally wrong.

Say too much to other people in the gym and you come across as an annoying, needy chatterbox trying to make new friends. Dont say anything and youre an unfriendly workout obsessed freak.

How loud should the music on your iPod be? Is it okay to sing-a-long? What about grunting and groaning when youre lifting weights is that acceptable or just showing off?

Should you keep your eyes fixed on an imaginary spot on the wall or is it OK to look around at other people ... and their bodies?

What I object to most is the person on the treadmill beside me glancing at my control panel to see if Im going slower than they are.

I had some serious worries about all this last week when I found myself working out alongside Oasis singer Liam Gallagher.

He was up here for his bands shows at the SECC and the hotel he was staying in happened to be attached to the fitness club I go to in Erskine.

The young boy at reception was bursting with excitement and told me who it was. I dashed into the changing rooms, tore off my work clothes and threw on my shorts, t-shirt and trainers in record time. I wanted to make sure Id got started before Liam had finished.

As I pushed open the door and saw the man behind songs like Wonderwall, Some Might Say and Live Forever my head was filled with all these unwritten gym etiquette quandaries which I normally struggle with but knew I simply had to get right.

Theres a long list of people smarter than me whove invaded Liam Gallaghers personal space and suffered a verbal bashing. I didnt want to make my hero angry not the night before a big gig.

What, if anything, was I supposed to say?

Should I swagger over and invite him on my radio show. Thats what an ambitious radio presenter would do isnt it?

An interview with a big name would be good for ratings.

But what if Liam didnt want yet another interview? What if hed rather just work out in peace and quiet?

This might be the only part of the whole day he actually had to himself. Did I really want to be the guy who ruined that?

I knew what I had to do.

I nodded in Liams direction and started running. He got on with his weights. A few minutes later he walked past to get some water.

Great album Liam, I said. I really like it.

Thanks man, thats cool, he replied.

As he sauntered off to the pool I found myself agreeing with him.

It was cool. Id handled the situation perfectly. I, Colin Kelly, had become an expert in gym etiquette. I was cool. Liam Gallagher had said so.

Its a good thing he didnt see me an hour later in the changing rooms.

As I pulled my jeans out the locker around 5 worth of loose change came spilling out my pocket and went flying everywhere.

If hed witnessed me scrambling around, trying to pick up all the shrapnel while keeping the towel round my waist, cool would have been the furthest word from his mind.

Oasis - Coldplay Double Bill in Near Future?

    (photo: rockographer.com)

Coldplay.com cought up with Chris Martin on the road and talked to him about Coldplay's Touring plans and his thoughts on Oasis' Be Here Now album..... Here are some excerpts:

You're playing in the UK right up to Christmas, with the last show on December 23rd in Belfast.

Yeah. And I would also like to do something on Christmas Eve, but I'm not sure if it's possible. I have to say, it does feel weird that we haven't been in Britain at all. Over the last week or so, the realisation of that has really hit. But I think next year we'll make up for it.

Is that a hint towards future plans?

Well, we tried to get Knebworth but it just wasn't possible. So we're having to think of something else. In fact, I think we have thought of something else. Hopefully we'll be able to announce it soon. And hopefully it's not the same day that Oasis have booked it.

Although that would be a good double bill.

It would be a great double bill. And we wouldn't mind opening. I would also, funnily enough, open for Take That. We were in the dressing room yesterday and, for whatever reason, we started singing Back For Good. We sang the whole thing, word for word, with all the right chords on our piano, without having to learn it or anything. It was great. So I'd like to use this forum, the Coldplay website, to announce that if Take That want us to open for them, we'll do it. The only problem is that we'll have to get down the gym for a bit.

Chris' thoughts on Be Here Now Album

..... Because the price of a burger is often linked to its quality. Cheap burger usually means bad burger and vice versa.

Do you think so? Does that work with music too? Could we be like Be Here Now, reassuringly expensive? By the way, could I go on record and state that Be Here Now is a great album?

Not even Noel Gallagher thinks that.

No, Noel doesn't like it, but I do. I think it's got great songs on it. I think My Big Mouth is one of Oasis's best songs.

But that album is just too long.

Well that's also known as X&Y syndrome. Every band gets it. But for anyone reading this, they should listen to the song My Big Mouth by Oasis, because it's wonderful.

I gotta agree with him there BHN is awesome.

      Mockneys and Manckneys

BRITS are turning into a bunch of Mockneys and Manckneys as local accents lose their twang.

The north-south divide is disappearing as we all turn into sound-alikes, a survey revealed yesterday.

Traditional Cockneys are turning into Mockneys like film director Guy Ritchie, 40.

Nearly 70% of London-ers think their accent has changed in recent years the highest of any area. And Mancunians such as Oasis brothers Liam, 36, and Noel Gallagher, 41 are being influenced by the trendy southern drawl to become Manckneys.

Some cities fear their accents are in danger of being wiped out altogether, with a quarter of people in Leeds and Cardiff worried their twang is becoming less pronounced.

Liverpool is the only city where people believe their Scouse accents are actually getting stronger.

The Somerfield Local Life Report blames the change on Cockney celebs, US telly, Aussie soaps and foreign immigrants.

Pete Williams, of Somerfield, said: The global village we live in is having a profound effect on English.

We watch American films, absorb Australian soaps, hang out with friends from across the world and do business on a global level.?Its no wonder British accents are on the move again.

The Brummie accent was voted the most irritating by 39% of those polled.

Scouse was second with a third of the votes and Londoners next with 14%.

Scot Band Sergeant on Oasis' Radar

Sergeant are going to be a big deal in the next few years.

The Scots lads Nick Mercer, Scott Duncan, Bill Anderson and Rory Buchanan from Glenrothes in Fife have already been given the rock n roll seal of approval by Oasis after supporting them on tour in Glasgow last week.

A source on tour said: Noel and Liam are really into the band.

After Tuesdays gig Liam was talking to them for ages about music. They got on to talking about clothes and Liam complimented their threads.

Nick, the singer, was asking Liam about the custom-made jacket he had worn on stage for most of the tour. Liam told him to try it on, then said he could keep it. There is only one in the world. Nick couldnt believe it.

I wouldnt be surprised if Sergeant joined the Oasis megatour next summer.

      Thoughts from the Chunnel

From Noel Gallaghers Official tour blog on oasisinet.com

    Bonjour.

That gig in Paris was the last of the tour. That's it now for a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to a break. Me and Gem are on the Eurostar heading back to London. Liam and the increasingly odd Andy Bell have stayed in Paris for the day. Pity no one told them it's Armistice day. Everything's shut!

Saw Sting in our hotel last night. STING!!! Crikey, wonder what he was up to?

There's a man on this train who's just pulled out a rather large book called "101 Great Breads"!! Wow..he must be a chef of some description, eh?

We've made it through the Channel Tunnel. It's actually sunny. Unbelieveable. It'll piss down for the next 2 weeks though, I guarantee it.

    In a bit.

Oasis Look into Acquiring Private Jet

OASIS rockers Noel and Liam Gallagher are hoping to buy their own private jet after getting the bug on their latest tour.

The brothers have enjoyed flitting from city to city in a luxurious hired jet since embarking on their recent UK and European tour - and Noel even flew home via private plane for one night in between his gigs in Aberdeen.

Now, despite the recession, Noel has decided that he wants one of his own - and is asking his accountants to look at the figures. He revealed: "We're making serious enquiries as to how much one of these jets cost. We think with a bit of creative accounting we could probably afford one."

He cheekily added: "We've christened ours 'The Credit-Crunch'. It's the only way to fly."

Noel is not the first celebrity to hanker after a plane of his own - he joins the ranks of Tom Cruise, John Travolta and P Diddy who each have a plane or three of their own.

Westlife are said to have splashed out 4million on a jet four years ago after growing tired with the expense of private charters and David Beckham is considering purchasing a 7million plane of his own so he can travel between his European soccer commitments and US-based family.

The prices can vary between 4million for a Gulfstream or Learjet to 150million for a top of the range plane. Those who charter a private jet include Simon Cowell, who pays up to 6750 an hour.

In recent days Noel and Liam have used a jet to fly from Cologne to Copenhagen then Milan to Paris - and that's before they even set wing in Mexico, the US, western Europe and UK and Ireland in the New Year.

But perhaps Noel should heed a word of caution from P Diddy who claims that the state of the economy is so bad he can't even afford the fuel to put in the plane he partially owns.

      Plastic Rock Stars ?

Activision announced last week that multi platinum UK rockers Oasis' songs 'Bag it Up,' 'Waiting for the Rapture' and Hit Single 'The Shock of the Lightning' would be made available this month and that the full album would be down loadable on Guitar Hero World Tour in 2009. Cool? Definitely or just Maybe...Leave us your comments below!

Our pals over at LA2DAY had following take on the plastic guitar game craze:

Lars Ulrich is a douchebag. And here's why:

This past weekend, I switch on the radio, and to my pleasant surprise the drummer for Metallica is chatting up the new album. And then, for some ungodly reason, the discussion veers head-on to Guitar Hero (oh fuck, here we go).

Here I am hoping that Lars will talk some sense into the world and tell everyone that they're wasting precious time that could be spent...oh I dunno, let's see....playing an actual fucking guitar? But no, he actually goes on to endorse this rubbish.

Why in the hell is such a plastic piece of shit so popular? Why play something that's so close to the real thing, yet teaches no musical skills whatsoever? Mindboggling.

Now, I agree that the spirit behind this fad is far better than the endless line of shoot-em-ups' that grace our fine planet. However, all virtual gaming is a piss poor excuse for recreation. And we wonder why much of Western Society is going to hell in a bucket of fried chicken! Wake up fat asses! It's better to rock out with a real guitar, or grab a ball and play some football in the park than to waste your time sodding off with this horse shit.

And another thing. As an average bloke who's been learning to play guitar for a couple of years now, I find that playing a real instrument is hard enough, but at least it's productive.

The popularity of Guitar Hero and Rockstar cannot be denied, and the number of real musicians selling out to this diseased cash cow makes me want to throw myself in front of Liam Gallagher's tour bus and end it all here and now. Good lord! Respectable bands are actually using these games as an additional platform to sell their music with new download packages. Hey dickheads, stop buying this shit. You're ruining everything!

So my question remains...What the fuck is up with fucking Guitar Hero? Anyone who says it's just a harmless game can piss off. That's my whole bloody point. It's a shit game. It's gone too far. And it has to stop.

I'd hereby like to state that I hope one day the world will wake up from their virtual dreams and rejoice round the biggest bonfire the world has ever seen, celebrating music in ways not seen since the early days of Woodstock (FYI no way in hell Jimmy Hendrix would have been caught dead letting some frat boy play "Purple Haze" on a fake guitar with plastic buttons. I'm just saying.)

My verdict? Lars Ulrich and Guitar Hero can officially PISS OFF.

Copenhagen - Calzaghe - and The Credit Crunch

From Noel Gallagher's Official tour blog on oasisinet.com

That gig in Copenhagen was pretty good after all. A deceptively sweaty little number.

A journalist who hadn't spoke to me since '94 at the Hultsfred Festival accused me of stealing her bag DURING an interview!! Not guilty, your honour. Another insisted that I owed them money! INSISTED!! I have no recollection of ever meeting either of these people.

Stayed up half the bastard night to watch that Joe Calzaghe fight. What a lump of shit that was. I've had better fights with r-kid.

We're flying to Milan today for about an hour to do some TV show or other then back on the jet and head for Paris. We're making serious enquiries as to how much one of these private jets cost. We think with a bit of creative accounting we could probably afford one. We've christened ours "The Credit-Crunch?" It's the only way to fly, y'know?

Never get enough time to stay in Copenhagen. It looks like it might be a fun-place. We'll never know. Pity.

Ryan Adam's Would Queue To See Oasis Play

Ryan Adams and his band The Cardinals are back with a new album Cardinology. He spoke to Newsbeat about his tenth studio LP and his love for Oasis.

How did you find recording your new album?

Neal Casal (The Cardinals guitarist): This album was one of the best we've made because our line-up has really solidified now.

It felt like we could really stretch out and be a band and it felt like we were making free music for ourselves.

We had a blast and I think that comes straight through in the grooves. It was a very unfettered recording process and we had a free rein on this album.

Ryan: This is the last record we have under Lost Highway so we can go off and do our own thing.

You recently supported Oasis on their US tour. How was that?

Ryan: That's a band I don't miss. That is a band I buy tickets for and I go and see. If Oasis are playing New York I'm at that concert. I'm in the line with everyone else.

It was a perfect day for me supporting them because I was like, 'Damn I get to play some music and I get to watch Oasis and I'm getting paid for it'.

Did you hear that your cover of Wonderwall was recently credited to you and not Oasis on The X Factor?

Ryan: I know I heard about that. When somebody told me I just laughed.

You almost collaborated with Noel Gallagher live for that track once. Is there any chance of that ever happening?

Ryan: No absolutely not. If I ever did it would have to be a pretty decent amount of money so I could say to these guys, 'Go and buy a helicopter'.

You had a bad accident in 2004. (The singer fell offstage and broke his left wrist at the former Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool). How difficult a period was that for you?

Ryan: I had to re-learn how to pick up a pencil and re-learn how to move a finger. There were massive holes in my arm and I had to get it sewn back on.

It was awful, I was in a lot of pain. But a lot of time has passed since then and I don't usually think about it until someone else brings it up. It seems very incidental to me now.

Did it get to the point that it was so bad that you almost had to quit music?

Ryan: I think quite the opposite happened. When it healed up The Cardinals were born and I made a solo album. In fact I made three albums in one year.

Lost Highway are in the process of putting together an anthology of your work for release. How do you feel about that?

I don't plan to participate in that. They can provide an anthology of the stuff that was done on Lost Highway, good luck with that. But the fans already have it.

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals are currently touring the UK.

      An Underwhelming Experience

Taken from NoelGallagher's Official tour blog on oasisinet.com

That gig in Cologne last night was the most underwhelming experience of my recent life.

Let me explain. It was a gig for competition winners. 600 of 'em.

SIX HUNDRED!! I've done rehearsals with more people in attendance. All of these next few shows are re-scheduled from 3 months ago. We had to cancel them because of the incident in Toronto.

Little gigs are not for me. I find them boring and pointless. Give me the spectacle of a stadium gig any day of week. 60,000, that's where it's at for me.

Some very funny Euro dancing going on in the hotel bar afterwards. There is no greater sight than the euro dancer in full flow.

We're off to Copenhagen today. On the Oasis private jet-plane. I love Copenhagen. Can't wait. It's another low-key gig. There'll be at least a 1,000 people there though. I might even get excited.

    In a bit.

Oasis Presented With Signed Football Shirt on Italian TV

Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher were left speechless when they were presented with a signed Alessandro Del Piero Football Shirt on Italian TV over the weekend.

The pair were given the shirt during the band's appearance on the popular TV show Che Tempo Che Fa.

In a special message to the brothers, Del Piero, who currently plays for Juventus, thanked them for their inspiring music.

Oasis also performed songs from their new album 'Dig Out Your Soul' during their appearance.

Not missing a beat, Gallagher quickly declared to the host eBay!", which despite the language barrier drew laughs from the studio audience

The band are currently in Italy as part of their European tour.

Hatton and Oasis to take on Calzaghe and Stereophonics For Christmas No1

Joe Calzaghe is taking on Ricky Hatton for a last fight ... to be Christmas No 1.

The gloves will come off when the two boxing champs go head-to-head in the pop charts.

Calzaghe 37 - who last night took on Roy Jones Jnr in a light heavy weight showdown in New York before retiring from the ring - is pulling no punches in his quest for a record knock-out.

Welsh hit rockers the Stereophonics will help him record the track.

But it could be a close fight. Mancunian Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton, 30, has called on Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher to help him claim the top spot with Hi Ho Ricky Hatton, a take on the 1967 hit Hi Ho Silver Lining.

And welterweight Hatton, who has won a string of world titles, is hoping to get Manchester City football team involved.

Calzaghe is getting his model girlfriend Jo-Emma, 27, to be a backing dancer.

And his boxing coach and songwriting dad Enzo, 60, is coming up with the words.

A source said: "It's going to be a real sing-along track to get everyone in the party mood.

"Jo-Emma is the secret weapon - she's the real glamour behind the single, which the Gallagher brothers can't match."

Enzo has said: "I was brought up in music. All we used to do in Italy was play football, box or sing all day. Boxing is a stressful world and my remedy is music." A friend of the family said: "This is going to be a light-hearted way to celebrate the end of Joe's career.

"They're not going for that soppy stuff you normally hear at Christmas - the Calzaghes have got a great sense of humour so they'll make sure it's a laugh.

"Joe was the unbeaten champ for 11 years and I reckon he's going to carry on his form in the music world. The family hopes it will be a chart-topper."

The competition from Ricky won't bother Calzaghe, who is also bringing out a DVD about growing up in the South Wales valleys in time for Christmas - Joe Calzaghe: My Life Story.

The source said: "He's never been worried about getting beaten by other boxers and he's not going to start now.

"He's approached this song with as much passion as his boxing. It will be a huge hit."

    Tale Of The Tape

    RICKY, 30

Has Oasis brothers Liam and Noel in his corner.

Hopes to get Manchester City squad on side.

Blackpool comedian Joey Blower writing the lyrics.

    JOE, 37

Welsh megastars Stereophonics in his corner.

Glam girlfriend Jo-Emma in the video.

Coach & songwriting dad Enzo coming up with the lyrics.

Paul Weller Inspires Noel Gallagher to Stick Around

Noel Gallagher won't retire until Paul Weller does.

The 41-year-old Oasis guitarist thought he would have quit music before he turned 40 but insists he will continue until his close friend and former The Jam frontman ends his career.

(Noel Gallagher & Paul Weller "That's Entertainment")

Noel said: "The question is always there, at the back of my mind. When I was 30 it was like, 'Well, I'll be out of this by the time I'm 40.' Now I'm 41 and I still really love it. And I think we are still valid as a band.
"I have always felt that as long as Paul Weller's doing it - and he's 10 years older than me - I'm doing it.

"I guess you face this worry in your 40s and come out the other side, when maybe age matters less."

Noel recently revealed he has already written Oasis' next album, and promised it would be different to the band's latest effort.

He said: "There's stuff about soldiers and religious people and rock stars and travellers. They all seem to have a narrative. "It's vastly different from 'Dig Out Your Soul'."

      Boozing, Elections and Photo Requests

From Noel Gallagher's Official Tour Blog on Oasisinet

The UK tour has officially finished. Thank god. There's been too much to do. Too many people to see. Too much boozing. Too much, too much. It'll be good to get out into the world and see what everyone else is up to.

We're flying to Cologne today. I love Germany. And them Germans. I don't know why, I just do.

We were up half the night the other night watching the American election. Not that it's any of my business you understand but we have a couple of Americans what work with us and they were very excited that Obama smashed it. Good for them. And him. And America, eh? Will it change anything? Probably not. Good speech though. Then again, they usually are.

It's gonna be a day of hanging around airport lounges today. Not the best way to spend a day off. It never ceases to amaze me how many people get offended when they ask you for "a quick picture" and you tell them you can't be arsed. It fuckin' winds me right up. People actually get the needle. Put your phones back in your pockets and grow up!!

    In a bit.

      Liam Gallagher's Clint Eastwood Looks

Liam Gallagher is transformed into a lone ranger wandering around a moon-lit countryside in the video to the new Oasis song.

The singer can be seen in the black and white video to "I'm Outta Time", which is being shown exclusively on the band's MySpace, dressed in a hat tipped low over his face.

With his surly grimace, Liam looks just like Clint Eastwood in his western classics Fistful of Dollars and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - all that's missing is a poncho and a pistol.

He then wanders around a mystical forest surrounded by butterflies and owls before settling down to listen to a record player.

"I'm Outta Time" is the second single to be released from the band's seventh album Dig Out Your Soul.

Noel Gallagher Interview with Zagreb's Plavi Radio

Noel how is your relationship with Liam lately - do you enjoy watching him work in the studio and giving him pointers?

Im not allowed to give him direction even though I write the songs. I have to say to Dave, Whys he not singing it that way? Cos if I say it to him, what he hears, in his headphones, is just pure insults. You know, when I say, Liam old bean. You could awfully, awfully use a bit of diction on that second verse. And hell just say, What did you call me? And its like, I didnt say anything! What did you say about my kids? So I have to pretend Im at the chippy, and I kind of sneak back in and say to Dave, Hes not doing it right. Tell him hes doing it wrong. And when we did Let There Be Love off the last record, and Dave, obviously hes an American producer, Liam started singing the song and Dave was going, I think you can beat it man. So the tune starts and Dave goes, Pretend youre telling a story. And the song starts, and Liams going, There was an old woman who lived in a shoe... And starts singing it like hes telling some nursery rhyme. Dave didnt get it for about twenty seconds. He was going, Whats he doing?

Do you bother much about tracks of yours leaking onto the internet before release?

If its out there, and you can get it, you know, go ahead, I dont wanna get into Lars Ulrich mode about this. You know, its well documented, I dont have a computer, I dont get involved in any of that kind of gear. But if people are willing to have faceless CDs like that in their collection, good for them. You know, it would be ludicrous for a rock star to demand that people pay money for albums, cos maybe kids aint got that much money to pay for an album, and if they can find it for free, go ahead. Dont do it on Oasis records though, cos thats against the law. Pinch as many Kaiser Chiefs as you like, get The Pigeon Detectives. Dont nick any Oasis. I need to keep the Evian water topped up in my swimming pool.

How would you describe the new album?

The reason that this album sounds the way it does is that we had a lot of songs left over from the last record. Which were written for Dont Believe The Truth. And they were kind of in that same British sixties kinda vein. And we had seven, I think, done. To fill in the gaps I wrote three songs. Not really thinking about whether they would go on the album, they were just gonna fill in the gaps. They were in a certain tuning, dropped D if any nerds are listening. Grunge tuning. And I played drums on the demos, and Im not really a Keith Moon kinda drummer, Im a Neanderthal, Im a basher. We sent them to Dave Sardy. And he was like, Wow have you got any more songs like this? This is what, we should make a record like this. And then going back to all the stuff that we ditched in the past, was like, yeah, I suppose we could do something with that, or we could do something with this. And slowly but surely it all started to change from a traditional British rock album to whatever one would describe it as now.

Youre in the middle of a big tour at the moment after so much success, its a surprise youre not doing a sponsored tour.

People kind of cotton on to that pretty quickly, they know when you mean it and when you dont, you know what I mean. They know when youre tour is sponsored by Kleenex and when you know, youre getting out and youre doing it for yourself and the fans that buy the records. Theres the Staple Centre and theres the you know, the Budweiser arena or some other thing. But we wont be playing the 02, I can assure you of that. Went to see Led Zeppelin there and somebody kind of nudged past me to get to their seat, and they had like chicken in a basket and some nachos, as they were going in to Black Dog. And I was like, you know what, there a people that would have given their left arm to be here. And this big dude is like, Hey mate I think youre sat in me seat. Cos he wanted to sit down and eat his dinner. Its like, Jimmy Page is up there man, and hes gonna bleed it out for you, you know what I mean, and all youre bothered about is your Doritos and your Fanta. Other drinks are available. A security guard digged Liam in the ribs and told him to stand behind the yellow line. And Liam was out, Liam said if I have to pour petrol over my children rather than play in this gaff. And it was like, that was it.

The new album is called Dig Out Your Soul thats a very typical Oasis sounding title.

I ran out of ideas for album titles. It was gonna be, originally it was gonna be called Bag It Up. And then it was gonna be called Shock Of The Lightening. And then it was gonna be called Standing On The Edge Of The Noise. Were in bands to fire peoples imagination about stuff. Not to call your album, Untitled or Oasis or something ridiculous. But its like, so I couldnt think of any ideas, and then somebody had written, just taken bits of the lyrics out. And Dig Out Your Soul. I was like, you know what, titles become themselves, you know. Definitely Maybes not a great title, but its kind of, if the albums good enough itll become itself. So I was, Dig Out Your Souls not the best one, but it was the best one of that day where we had to choose one. And its done. But its actually, its a bit of lyrics in one of Gems songs, but its not as a Japanese interviewer asked me today, was it about the birth of mankind and how one tries to dig ones soul from the earth, mother nature and I was like, its actually referring to djing when youre putting on some Motown. Its a DJ digging out his soul.

How do you feel when you look back at your first three albums?

I dont know. The first one is just a moment in time that was, that record had to come along at some point by somebody. Im just glad that it was me and it was our band and it still gets great reviews. But the thing about the third album is you know, wed gone from playing the Water Rats to playing Knebworth in under two years, and nobody was saying no to anything. Its like, you could phone anybody, from anywhere, phone your manger, its seven in the morning in Hong Kong and just say, Marcus, its Noel. What do you want? Ive got a whim Ive forgotten what it was though Can you send me one red chocolate shoe and one green apple to this suite number in Hong Kong by this evening. You know its kinda like that. And you know, the first single off Be Here Now was eight and half minutes long. And everyone was going, so theres gonna be an edit. And I was like, Im not editing anything, everyones like great. Brilliant. Yeah. Great, thatll sound great that on Capital that when they play eight and half minutes of feedback in the morning. And we were kinda being a little bit, I was being a little bit more difficult than I would be these days. Cos we were living the dream. I had a fur coat man. I actually remember I was out once, watching Paul Weller in the BBC theatre downstairs here, and I had this fur coat on and some journalist from the Guardian said, is that a real fur coat? And I went yes it is a real fur coat. He said what fur? I said its rabbit fur. She said, you know, rabbit fur. Thats a bit odd. I said, this is skinned from one rabbit, its been in my back garden for the last eight months. Ive grappled this beast in my own hands and Ive made a coat of it and Im proud to wear it. And she thought I was being serious.

Do music prizes such as the Mercury mean much to you?

Music is like beauty right, its all in the eye of the beholder. Theres nobody to say that the next Franz Ferdinand record means more than the next Klaxons record because it doesnt matter what you think. If it speaks to you, then thats the end of it. There is no such thing as You can get awards for record sales, so I guess thats a physical thing. Youve sold the most records. Here. Like, you know a washing-up liquid bottle. Go away. That kind of thing right. But to say that, and anyway, who are this panel? Every time we see this panel they look like the biggest bunch of squares in England. I mean Im sorry, its just like, I dont want you sitting in judgement on my record, youve not had a boyfriend for twenty five years. Whos to say that you know, the Klaxons are greater musical exponents just because someone from The Guardian says so. You know, the curse of the Mercurys now isnt it, if you win it youre automatically disappear.

So, making the new album, did you have a great time partying throughout?

I mean we had a good time out there, do you know what I mean, but we don't mess about when we work. We never drink in the studio or anything like that. All those days are over, you know. We used to bring the party into the studio, but it doesn't really make for great records. We had such a fantastic time kinda making and touring that album Be Here Now, we lost the plot in those two years. If you've never lost the plot, it's amazing. You know, you end up waking up with midgets and dogs in sun glasses and it's just like, I don't know how I got here but I really really like this! That lasted into kinda 1998, and then it was kind of, you know, doing, having Red Stripe for breakfast was like, can't go on any more. I think I'm gonna bow out gracefully before me teeth fall out or summat. But it was, they were great times, but when you listen back to the music, now it's kinda, it could've been better, you know what I mean?

What is so special about the north of England and music, because you've got so many great bands from Manchester and Liverpool as well.

Liverpool's an island, and I think it's something that's been passed down through generations of the boats coming back from America with all the early like the Beatles said that they could get records off the sailors that you couldn't even get in London, so I guess that kind of thing is passed down. But, if you go round the bars and the pubs in Liverpool and see anybody playing a guitar or jut getting up and doing like acoustic stuff. They've just got it. They've just got and not, and I've gotta say there's not, I mean I'm kinda biased towards, no I just get it. I don't know what it is, they've just got such passion for great music, and they're all into the same kind music, you know, and it's all kind of obscure '60s stuff that you've never heard of you know. And then there was Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

You're often accused of stealing ideas from other bands.

Yeah, you see people accuse of being, sitting there and listening to the Beatles all day and all that, but I mean we don't, you know, there's moments of our records and on b-sides where we kind of stretch it a little bit. But it's not a conscious thing where we're like, 'right we must write something avant-garde here.' You know what I mean? It's kind of if it happens naturally then we'll do it. If it doesn't then we won't, you know, we do like sitting around strumming acoustic guitars. The biggest criticism that the music press have against us is that we're not Radiohead. But, correct me if I'm wrong, they've been making the same record since Kid A, have they not? I like them. Every time I see them live they blow me away, but you know, it's kind of, we make very accessible rock and roll music, you know, and they constantly make difficult electronic records. It's not a criticism of them, and it shouldn't be a criticism of us.

You've written songs for the band for the last four albums when you started, did you ever think you wouldn't write for Oasis?

No. I can do what I want in this band, do you know what I mean. It's just if they're good enough, you know what I mean. And they seem to be getting better. I'm easy man, whether a song of mine goes on the album or not. I don't put a gun to anyone's head. It's if they like it then it goes on. If it doesn't go on I'm equally buzzing off it, singing the songs, you know what I mean. I'm a happy chap after singing songs. I sit there. I've got a guitar in me house, once the ironings done, if there's nothing on TV I sort of have a little play around, got me Dictaphone, bosh, something happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. Ain't got a clue what it's about though. That word went with that word. That's the way it is man. And that's the way it sort of, like me and Andy Bell was going, 'well that's like being honest and being right', and that's how it comes because you're not thinking about it. If I didn't write another song I really really wouldn't be that arsed, you know what I mean. It's like, as long as I'm singing songs, that's my main, that's where I get my kicks, that's where I'm at.

You're singing well lately. How are you coping on the road?

I mean the last couple of rehearsals that we've been doing I've been singing like a proper proper geezer. So at the moment it's sounding good, so I've just got stay in and keep the door locked and not go out.

Do you remember your first gig with Oasis?

I think it, I tell you what, the first gig I think was, I think the first gig was in London in some like college. Like Dartford, or wherever Mick Jagger was from, it's round that way. In like some like, I think it was like a toga party? With all the students. But the first serious gig I think was like the King Tut's I think or I remember playing the Boardwalk and all our mates were there, about twenty lads just going like that. And it was just like a proper weird moment. I tell you the gig that, I think it was the one that really, when I sort of sat back and went, 'wow, this is, this is more like it. This is proper' was the T in the Park gig. I remember that one in the tent. And I sort of went, 'this is good!'

Finally are you looking forward to touring?

Love touring. Love making music. Love talking about it. Playing it. Touring. I adore it man. I adore it. I adore Oasis man. I'm its biggest fan. I do. I love it.

The interview was taken from the show Backstage on Zagrebs Plavi Radio.

Edinburgh , Obama and Dancing Shoes

From Noel Gallagher's Official Tour Blog on oasisinet.com

Aberdeen? Bloody hell! Them kids was crazy!! A pleasure to have been there, etc.

Where are we? Glasgow, that's where.

Spent the day in my adopted 2nd city yesterday, Edinburgh. Went to see the in-laws. My boy's up there visiting with his mam. God, it's peaceful in that city. Haven't been up there since New Year's Eve. If you haven't done NYE in Edinburgh, then you haven't done NYE. It's some piss-up let me tell you.

It's all about that American election today. I guess we'd all like Obama to win, no? The other fella's rhetoric is just laughable (not that it's any of our business).

I'm going shopping. I need some dancing shoes.

See you at the S.E.C.C., if you're coming.

    In a bit.

    GD.

      Mellow Oasis Rocks Glasgow's SECC

MORE than 10 years ago, at the height of their fame, Oasis nearly caused a riot when they walked off stage at Glasgow's SECC after someone threw a vodka bottle.
Back again at the same venue last night for the first of a two-gig residency, it was a mellower Oasis.

The only one getting it in the neck was Lorraine Kelly. Liam Gallagher dedicated Cigarettes & Alcohol to the GMTV presenter and then said she had a "fat a***".
The show started with instrumental F*****' In The Bushes followed by Rock 'n' Roll Star and Lyla which had the crowd bouncing along.

Noel took over on hugely appreciated songs such as The Masterplan and the band's anthem for middle age, The Importance Of Being Idle. At times, it felt like Liam was just part-time, either off-stage or walking around it.

But two of his own songs, Songbird and I'm Outta Time, were highlights.
Of course, the band are strongest when they play rousing anthems such as Wonderwall and Slide Away, which Liam dedicated to "all the old chicks".

The band closed with protracted versions of Champagne Supernova and Beatles cover I Am The Walrus.

As Liam would say, nice one.

      Oasis in Glasgow

It may have been the day before Bonfire Night but Oasis certainly delivered some fireworks as they swaggered into the SECC last night.

And although the mouthy Manchester rock gods have been going for 14 years now, they still had the sold-out crowd in the palm of their hands from the opening blast of Rock N Roll Star, a song that was once a statement of intent but is now simply a matter of fact.

The Gallagher brothers didn't let the pace slack early on, with a raucous sing-a-long Lyla, before the classic guitar intro of Cigarettes And Alcohol saw the entire building shake.

Liam was his usual self, casually moving about the stage with a confident, cocky air. He didn't say much, but did find time to direct a sarcastic, foul-mouthed dedication before one number to Lorraine Kelly!

His brother Noel was quiet too, preferring to let the music do the talking.

The one hour and 40-minute set mixed in old classics, new material and a few rarities, with a storming Morning Glory highlighting the drumming prowess of new sticksman Chris Sharrock, while The Masterplan offered a nice change of pace.

Of the material from new album Dig Out Your Soul, the psychedelic tinged To Be Where There's Life fared best, letting Liam's famed full-throated roar shine. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said of Ain't Got Nothin'.

But a superb Wonderwall and Supersonic had plenty of punch, before the encore was highlighted by an acoustic run-through of Don't Look Back In Anger and the inevitable closing cover of I Am The Walrus.

Oasis return to the SECC tonight, but the gig's sold-out.

Liam Gallagher makes Cancer Charity Appearance

Rock superstar Liam Gallagher made a surprise appearance at a north-east charity event before his band Oasis played two nights in Aberdeen.

The band played at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Saturday and Sunday, but they stayed at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels hotel last Friday, where a dinner was being held for north-east cancer charity Clan.

Mr Gallagher talked to guests, and made a speech adding his support.

Clans managing director Debbie Thomson said: Mr Gallaghers impromptu visit really enthused the audience. The event as a whole was a great success with some fantastic entertainment, and an appearance from someone with as high a profile as Liam Gallagher was just the icing on the cake.

His best wishes for our fundraising were also greatly appreciated, particularly as our cause is so close to his heart after a cancer-related death in his family.

The dinner hosted by Aberdeenshire-based company RB Farquhar raised more than 40,000 towards Clans target of 3million for a new centre and also included entertainment from comedian David Copperfield.

      Oasis Split .... Hotels

OASIS brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher checked into different hotels last night after a rumoured spat.

The brothers had played Aberdeen's Exhibition and Conference Centre over the weekend before heading to Glasgow one day in advance of their two sell-out gigs at the city's SECC.

The brothers were both initially booked at a plush west end hotel, but decided to change plans at the last minute.

Noel chose to keep to the original arrangement and arrived shortly before 8pm at his exclusive hotel.

But Liam opted to stay outwith the city boundaries, in a stately home where he could roam free in the private grounds. Later, he had a boozy night out at an Indian restaurant in Glasgow city centre.

Arriving at his hotel in a blackedout limo and laden with shopping bags, Noel said: "My brother is not here with me tonight. He's chosen to stay at a different hotel."
When asked why, he shrugged and refused to explain.

But an insider said: "Noel and Liam have had their differences in the past and this time they made it clear that they didn't want to stay in the same hotel. They've had some sort of argument and plans had to be changed as Liam requested a hotel miles away from his brother.

"It seems typical of Oasis's fiery relationship."
Noel seemed relaxed on his arrival and said he was excited about performing his shows at the SECC.

Although he had taken a private jet home in between his two Aberdeen gigs, Noel spent most of yesterday in Edinburgh with his fiancee Sara MacDonald.
Noel, who was wearing a long stripey scarf, a brown leather bomber and jeans, told the Record: "I've spent the day in Edinburgh visiting my in-laws and I've been shopping.
"It was very nice and has put me in agreat mood for my gigs in Scotland.
    I always enjoy playing here."

Meanwhile, singer Liam revelled with seven friends, including his manager and drummer, at Glasgow's Cafe India. Liam ordered a chicken korma with extra coconut and drank a number of double vodka and lemonades. He even popped outside for a quick smoke.

Fellow diner and Record columnist Tam Cowan was startled to spot Liam and his party.
Tam said: "Liam was stoating about with his band and roadies, and was in a very genial mood."

Gallaghers Return to Aberdeen to Wow Fans

MANCHESTER LEGENDS IN ABERDEEN SECURITY SCARE AS FAN IS WRESTLED OFF THE STAGE

ROCKNROLL superstars Oasis returned to the north-east for the first time in three years at the weekend to blow away two capacity crowds at the Press and Journal Arena.

However, the Gallagher brothers Aberdeen gigs were almost marred by an attempted stage invasion on Saturday when a fan had to be wrestled off the stage as Liam and Noel departed.

The Manchester legends last performed before a sellout crowd in the Granite City back in December 2005 and probably could have sold out the AECC 10 times over for their long-awaited return.

In a financial climate where even the worlds biggest banks are having to borrow money, the admission price of nearly 40 was fairly steep.

But with the Gallagher brothers in such impressive form, it did not seem to matter.

    Rousing

They burst on to the stage with a searing version of RocknRoll Star, followed by Lyla and current single Shock of the Lightning.

There were the obvious highlights such as rousing renditions of 1990s favourites Slide Away, Wonderwall and Dont Look Back in Anger but there were also some gems from the new album, Dig Out Your Soul.

Im Outta Time, written by Liam, was followed by Falling Down, Waiting For The Rapture and To be Where Theres Light.

They finished off the 90-minute set in traditional fashion, with Champagne Supernova and Beatles cover I Am the Walrus.

    They left to deafening applause.

However, the night was almost spoiled by a man trying to evade security and run on to the stage.

He managed to scale the barrier at the front of the arena and jumped on to the edge of the stage as the band were heading off.

The incident comes just weeks after the band had to cancel dates when Noel Gallagher failed to recover from injuries received during a stage invasion in Canada.

The 41-year-old needed hospital treatment after being knocked over when a man stormed on stage during the V Festival in Toronto in September.

Grampian Police said no one had been charged with any offence over the Aberdeen incident.

Bono - the Giant's Causeway - and a 'Satanic Slut'

From Noel Gallagher's Official Tour diary on Oasisinet.com

Arright. What to say? Not a lot happening at the minute. The boys are on their way to Aberdeen. I'm on my way to Dublin. Got some interviews to attend to. Which pretty much amounts to being asked some very heavily loaded questions about U2/Bono. We've all been in Belfast the last couple of days. Somewhat predictably the gigs were great.

I went to see that Giant's Causeway thing and I can report that it's still there!

Can't believe that non-story involving Russell and Jonathan is STILL rumbling on. How is it that a talented handsome devil loses his job because of The Daily Mail and a Satanic Slut gets rich because of The Tabloids? That's the English and its media for you, I suppose.

And yes, my bags did eventually turn up.

    In a bit.

Sergeant Ready for Oasis Support Gigs

SERGEANT are preparing for the biggest gigs of their lives after Noel Gallagher demanded they support Oasis at the SECC on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Gallagher is a fan of the Fife outfit and gave his manager their CD, insisting: "Get me this band."

Sergeant singer Nick Mercer said: "We are so excited, totally buzzing.

We are massive fans of Oasis.

"The fact Noel asked specifically for us means he wants us for the music. To be pinpointed by Noel is amazing. We feel brilliant knowing he listens to our CD and is buzzing off it the way we buzz off his tunes."

Nick hopes the Gallaghers will watch his band's performances because the pressure will bring out the best in them.

He said: "We are at our best under pressure. We are on a roll right now and we will nail it, especially if they are standing at the side of the stage. We want to impress them.

"I don't want to sound arrogant but we always knew Noel would like our songs, like a lot of other people like him do.

"The music we make is not reinventing the wheel, we do what people like Oasis do by taking bits from classic bands and reinterpreting them our way. We are influenced by the same bands as Noel so we expected him to like what we do.

"It's still great to know we were right and I would love this to lead to more stuff with Oasis, whether it's support slots or Christmas dinner...I'm up for anything."

Another Fan Rushes Stage at Oasis Gig in Aberdeen

    via UK editor:

The band again were on top form, the best crowd I have been in this tour.

There was another breach of security last night, a man jumped up on the stage at the end of last nights show, he then jumped down and straight into the hands of the security team right in front of the stage he was then dragged away.

I did not see everything that happened on stage, but Liam appeared ready to want to want to have a fight with the person and was livid.

    via L4e Forum:

.....that guy jumped on stage after the end of i am the walrus just after liam was walking off and noel and the rest of the band were still playing, the guy ran on from the left, security ran on from the right and they met in the middle, think the guy superman style dived off the front of the stage but it looked like the security shoved him too, anyway, top night out all in all.
