Midway through �Imagine: John Lennon,� the 1988 documentary, Lennon and his new bride, Yoko Ono, are seen prancing through a London airport clad in matching white pantsuits. As �The Ballad of John and Yoko� plays in the background � the tune in which Lennon bemoans that he and Ono are criticized for looking like �two gurus in drag� � viewers get a glimpse of a media-savvy peacock. The world�s constant gaze was clearly wearying for Lennon, but that was O.K. because he didn�t always take himself seriously. He knew how to have a good time and how to work a look.

�He embodied the idea that the personal is political and demonstrated a fearless commitment to his ever-changing vision,� says the music journalist Alan Light. �He was willing to look silly, to reveal himself, to be guided by passion. He wore glasses.�

Nearly 30 years after his death, �the ultimate, uncompromising pop artist� as Light describes him, is still everywhere. In Sam Taylor-Wood�s hotly anticipated new biopic, �Nowhere Boy,� a very young Lennon is seen trying out Buddy Holly glasses and defining the style that would inspire a million mod mop-tops, not to mention pointy black boots. Thom Browne used the title song from 1968�s �Yellow Submarine� (which will soon get a Robert Zemeckis big-screen remake) in the soundtrack of his spring show. Dries Van Noten had vibrant, Eastern-inspired prints that brought to mind Lennon�s global nomad period. And his boho �70s shag haircut and vintage army jackets continue to resonate with aspiring rock stars � cue Liam Gallagher, the Oasis singer whose line of parkas and urban gear made its debut last year.

It would be nice to think that the current fascination with Lennon is something more than a fleeting infatuation with his aesthetic. In a culture obsessed with irony and hollow celebrity, Lennon�s talent and earnestness � not to mention his strident political views and penchant for grand gestures, like taking out ads for peace � make him a figure worthy of being celebrated, even copied. Still, one can picture Lennon amused by a discussion of his fashion legacy. Not only was he at one time the most famous person in the world (sorry, Jesus), but he was also the weirdest. �I�m not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything,� Lennon once announced. �I�ve always been a freak.�

Imagine that.

We�ve all got an Oasis memory in there somewhere. Mine was standing outside Noel Gallagher�s house, Supernova Heights, in the rain at 10am on 31st July 1997, wondering if he was in and whether I would meet him. It was the day after he�d been to Downing Street with Alan McGee.

I was 14 years old, and I had never met anyone famous before. The papers were dominated with the Tony Blair story, but there was a remarkably small amount of paparazzi around his house. �Be Here Now� was three weeks off being released, and there were flyers and posters plastered everywhere in London - on every lamppost, bin, and spare wall - instructing the public to �Be There Then� when it happened. �D�You Know What I Mean� had been and gone from number One, Noel�s cat had reportedly gone missing and tickets to Oasis� shows at Earls� Court with The Verve as support had sold out in minutes; I was one of those fans who had spent hours pressing �redial� on the home telephone (I still didn�t own a mobile) upset that I couldn�t get through. I was amazed at the level of humility present in Noel�s lifestyle considering the hype around Oasis at this time.

His house was separated from the main street only by a tiny little waist-height gate that even my 5ft 0 height could have easily climbed over had I felt inclined to. And it wasn�t exactly a difficult place for a fan like me to find. When you came out of Belsize Park or Chalk Farm station, you�d spot graffiti, directing you straight there: �This way to Noel�s house� an arrow pointed at the foot of Steele�s Road, like it was a national tourist landmark. At the time it practically was! I just wondered if he didn�t feel vulnerable in this situation. If you looked to the left, you could see straight into his front room. Judging by the graffiti on his front wall, just like on Abbey Road, it was clear that people were coming here every day, doing exactly what I was, as if on a pilgrimage. �It�s rude to write on God�s property, so this is the best I can do� I saw written on the pavement by the little gate. Everyone who wrote on that wall must have had a story about what circumstances brought them there that day; imagine what kinds of magical stories they would be if we all knew what those were.

Liam Gallagher: I've Changed For the Better

Liam Gallagher thinks he has changed ''for the better'' after relaxing his partying ways and taking up running.

The former Oasis singer has toned down his partying ways and has started looking after his body so he can be a good father to his three kids.

Liam, 37, said: "Everyday I'm up at 6am for a run and do a few miles across Hampstead Heath. I love it. I've definitely changed, I think for the better. You must remember I've caned it for 20 years with all sorts and I've got the kids now. I just took my foot off the gas a little with all the bits and bobs because you can't be doing all that with the kids, it's not fair on them. And I love being a dad. It's the best thing in the world."

Liam has three children - daughter Molly, 12, with Lisa Moorish, and sons Lennon, 10, with his ex-wife Patsy Kensit, and eight-year-old Gene with his current spouse Nicole Appleton.

The 'Songbird' singer quit drugs in 2008 to focus on his family life after apparently taking illegal substances for two decades.

He recently said: "I've had a great time and now I'm having a break. It doesn't work with kids. You wake up the next day after a session and you're looking for bits of your kids' homework and football boots. You're all over the place - it's rubbish."

Noel Gallagher's Special Message For Paul Weller

As many of you may already know, the Modfather Paul Weller picked up the Godlike Genius Award at last week's NME Awards. No argument from us; the guy is a legend. No one would agree with us more than Noel and Gem.

Noel recorded a special message for the awards and Gem was asked by Paul to join him on stage to perform as part of his band playing guitar and providing backing vocals.

If you're not in the UK or didn't catch the TV broadcast you may have missed the guys so we decided we'd go trawling the interwebs to find you the footage:

Simmons Urges Gallagher Brothers To Continue Fighting

KISS star GENE SIMMONS hopes former OASIS bandmates NOEL and LIAM GALLAGHER continue their ongoing feud - because their constant fighting makes them the most "interesting" stars of British music.

The band was thrown into turmoil last year (09) after guitarist Noel walked out following a massive argument with his brother backstage at a music festival in France. The news came after years of infighting and public spats between the brothers.

Noel is now planning a solo career, while singer Liam will continue to make music with the rest of his Oasis bandmates.

But Simmons hopes the split won't put an end to the siblings' feuding - because he loves hearing about their arguments.

He tells British radio station XFM, "God bless the U.K. for giving the world the music that makes all our lives better. I like Keane, I like Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand write great songs. What's missing is stars. I don't care what they do, who they're sh**ging, where they live... they're not interesting people.

"The most interesting people to me are the Gallagher brothers. The interesting thing about them is they're drug addicts and alcoholics and they fight with each other. That's really it."

Liam Gallagher: Indie Music is a F#cking Disease

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has described current indie music as a �fucking disease�.

The singer singled out Bloc Party in his attack, which came in the new edition of Esquire magazine.

"I really despise this new fucking disease of indie fucking shit, fucking student music, the likes of Bloc Party and all that fucking nonsense,� he said.

�They don't keep me awake at night, but it's just shite, and they can fucking have it mate."

Gallagher, who recently launched the fashion label Pretty Green, also criticised current indie band's dress sense.

"The thing is, man, you can make your clothes look like they've been worn in and look as if they've had a bit of character, but underneath you've got to have a fucking wash, he said.

�Those fuckers wear the clothes all the fucking time and they don't wash, so it's like, 'Where's the fucking bench?'�

The singer added that the best band's were able to combine good music with good looks.

Gallagher is currently working on his debut album with his as-yet-unnamed new band, which is expected this summer.

Liam Gallagher says his fashion label Pretty Green is full of ''timeless, classic clobber'' and only contains stuff he would wear.

The rocker - who launched his own fashion line last year - deliberately kept his designs and ideas simple but opted for luxurious fabrics to make sure the range wasn't too "wild".

He said: "Pretty Green is timeless, classic clobber. Nothing too wild - parkas, nice macs, boating blazers, quality button-down shirts, polo shirts, desert boots - all made really well in really nice materials. It's quality."

The 37-year-old singer runs his label on a collection of simple rules and if an item doesn't look good on him, it won't make it into his clothing range.

He explained to Esquire magazine: "We discuss ideas, then they make them up, and if it doesn't look good on me, then I'm not f***ing having it. I'm not a fashion man but I know what looks good and what I like and that is as far as it goes. It's more about style really than fashion, and Pretty Green won't take any notice of trends. Fashion comes and goes. Style remains. I hate it when people say, 'That goes with that, and that with that.' I say, 'Well f**k of! I'll do what I like.' "

Plan B and The Courteeners to support Noel Gallagher at his Teenage Cancer Trust gigs

Plan B and The Courteeners will join Noel Gallagher at his Teenage Cancer Trust gigs in London later this month.

The Courteeners will support the former Oasis star on March 25, while rapper-turned-singer Plan B is set to appear the following day.

The shows will mark Gallagher's first solo performances since his quit the Manchester band last summer.

The Teenage Cancer Trust concerts get under way at the Royal Albert Hall on March 22 with a performance from Them Crooked Vultures.

The US band, which features Dave Grohl and Josh Homme, will be joined by Little Fish.

Suede will be supported by These New Puritans on March 24 and Mystery Jets will join Arctic Monkeys on March 27.

Lemar and Diana Vickers are set to support JLS on March 28, while The King Blues will open for The Specials on March 29.

The charity concert series ends on March 30 with a performance from The Who, supported by Sweet Billy Pilgrim.

Manchester City's Success and Oasis Split Linked ?

Liam Gallagher has joked that the fortunes of Oasis and his beloved Manchester City football team are linked.

The singer pointed out that the team seemed to do badly when the band were at their peak � and now that Oasis have split things look much better on the pitch.

"When Oasis were doing well, City were doing shit," Gallagher told the Daily Mirror. "But now we've split, City are doing good. Maybe there's some good times ahead with City, and that'll take the pain of the band splitting off a bit."

Manchester City romped to a 4-2 away win against Chesea on Saturday (February 27), while Gallagher is expected to make his musical comeback with former Oasis members later this year.

Apology to Noel Gallagher

LAST week I reported some comments NOEL GALLAGHER made to a fan at a gig for the charity Warchild after the Brits.

Well, it seems that fan may have had one too many of the free beers on offer and got a little carried away.

Today I'm happy to make it clear that Noel has maintained a graceful silence about his brother LIAM since he made a statement when he left Oasis last August.

I can't wait to see him take the stage for the first time since leaving the band at the Teenage Cancer Trust shows at London's Royal Albert Hall next month.

Noel Gallagher To Build New Summer House

Former Oasis band member Noel Gallagher is hoping to create an 'oasis' of his own in Chalfont St Giles.

Mr Gallagher, who was a songwriter, guitarist and singer in the popular Britpop group, has applied for planning permission to build a summer house in his ten-acre gardens at his home in Nightingales Lane.

He plans to swap the rock'n'roll lifestyle for relaxing amongst wild flowers in the Buckinghamshire countryside. He has proposed a single storey octagonally-shaped structure where he can enjoy 'champagne supernova' and will be used by his family.

The timber building is to have a thatched roof - a world away from the Manchester streets where he grew up.

A council report states the summer house will not overlook his neighbours and will be screened by existing shrubbery - being more than 100 metres away from the wonderwalls of his house.
It states: "The family intend to enhance the existing shrubs and trees with more planting and native meadow flowers. The overall appearance of the summer house is designed to blend in with the surrounding trees and shrubs and create a refuge in the garden."

Last August Mr Gallagher quit the group after 18 years following a disagreement with fellow band mate and brother Liam. The band recently won a Brit award for best album of the past 30 years for their release '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?'

Gem Archer Joins Mod Father Paul Weller On Stage

As Live4ever announced to you several weeks ago Gem Archer joined Paul Weller on stage at last night's NME awards and Weller closed the cermony with a career-spanning set.

Paul Weller collected the final award of the night at the Shockwaves NME Awards last night (February 24), picking up the Godlike Genius gong at the at the O2 Academy Brixton in London.

Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and former Clash guitarist Mick Jones, whose bands have both claimed the prize, presented Weller with the honour, with the Modfather then giving a short speech to the crowd.

Weller then performed a six-song set with his solo band that spanned his career and brought the Shockwaves NME Awards to a close.

The star was joined by ex-Oasis guitarist Gem Archer and My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields for his closing set, which saw him play songs from across his career, including recent single '7+3 Is The Striker's Name'. The supergroup also ran through tracks including The Jam's 'Eton Rifles' and UK chart-toppers 'Start!' and 'Town Called Malice'.

NME editor Krissi Murison introduced Weller onstage first, alongside The Clash's Mick Jones and Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie.

"We could quite believe he hadn't been given it before," Murison said, before Jones and Gillespie took to the mic.

"He wrote some of the most beautiful, poetic songs," Gillespie said, before listing a number of Weller's most-revered tracks.

He added: "I could go on all all night cos he's written so many classics."

Gillespie then called Weller "the real deal", before letting Jones speak.

"It's our great pleasure to present this award to this incredible man, and to this man who we love," Jones exclaimed, after which a video montage of stars including Noel Gallagher, Carl Barat and Peter Blake praising Weller played on the big screens.

Weller then took to the stage himself.

"What could I say, it's taken them 30 years," he said first.

He then added: "I'm embarrassed because people said so many nice things about me...but they're all true! God bless you, have a good night!"

Canadian Officials Fear Media Circus - Turn Down Gallagher's Request

Officials in Canada have turned down NOEL GALLAGHER's request to appear at his attacker's sentencing hearing amid fears it will become a media circus.

The former Oasis rocker was left with three broken ribs after Danny Pickering lunged at him during one of the band's shows in Toronto, Canada in September 2008.

The 48 year old pleaded guilty to assault and Gallagher formally requested he be present at the sentencing hearing in Toronto to read the victim impact statement in person.

A judge previously ruled that Gallagher was entitled to be present and postponed the hearing date to accommodate the musician's schedule.

But now prosecutor Ruth Kleinhenz-Nelson has revealed officials have decided Gallagher should not attend because of the publicity surrounding the case, according to the Toronto Star.

The sentencing hearing has been rescheduled for 23 March (10), while Pickering's defence lawyer, John Collins, has called the delays "frustrating for me and my client.

Trash Tabloid Apologises To Noel Gallagher

On Sunday one of the UK tabloids (NOTW) carried a story that Noel made derogatory comments about Liam's new band.

The claims made in the article and the quotes attributed to Noel were untrue.

Noel has never made any comment regarding Liam's new band.

The newspaper concerned has subsequently withdrawn the story and apologised to Noel for their error.

Oasis Up For 3 Awards 6 Months After Split

Oasis are in the running for three awards at a major music event - despite splitting six months ago.

The Britpop veterans received three nominations last month for the Shockwaves NME Awards 2010, including best British band.

Arctic Monkeys, whose third album Humbug topped the charts last year, have the highest hopes after landing nods for six awards at the event, which will take place ay the O2 Academy Brixton, in south London.

Kasabian are their biggest challengers with five nominations, while Muse clock up four.

Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys go head-to-head in five categories - best British band, live band, album, video and the new "giving it back" award, which recognises acts who are generous to fans.

Making up the best British band category for the music paper's annual awards are Muse and Biffy Clyro.

Oasis fell apart last year when guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher quit the band after years of bickering with his frontman brother Liam.

But NME readers have shown they are still fond of the band by voting them on to the shortlists for best video, best live event and best British band.

The best album title will be fought between Arctic Monkeys' Humbug, Kasabian's West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, Muse's The Resistance, the Cribs' Ignore The Ignorant and The Horrors' Primary Colours.

The best live event of the past year will be contested between Blur's reunion show at Hyde Park, Jay-Z at Alexandra Palace, Muse's homecoming show at Teignmouth in Devon, Oasis at Heaton Park, Manchester, and The Dead Weather's Halloween show at Shoreditch Church in east London.

Do Music Stars need to Change their Approach?

After Tiger Woods, It's Time Liam Gallagher Learned To Be More Honest

Last week in an interview with The Quietus, Frank Black of Pixies fame came out and said what had been obvious to many after the continuing success of his band�s Doolittle 20th Anniversary Tour: �The reunion shows are more about the money now�. As if to further dispel any further notions of creative grandeur from the minds of Pixies fans, Black went on to explicitly state: �I did the arty farty part. Now it's time to talk about the money.�

To some this may have come as a dent in the credibility of their favourite 90s alt-rock band. To myself this was a welcome breeze of honesty in a world where a po-faced Iggy Pop can denounce his appearance in a Swift Cover advert as �embarrassing� in one instance and then sign on to a second set of promos featuring a �Little Iggy� who is mauled on the side of a golf course by a blood thirsty alligator. In fact, as a record buying public it would serve well to encourage this kind of behaviour in our usually more coy musicians.

Take for instance Liam Gallagher�s �controversial� acceptance speech at the Brit Awards for the Best Album of 30 Years. It was almost expected that the lesser talented Gallagher would come out with a false show of bravado to detract from the fact he has a solo album coming out soon and a songwriting career of which the highlight is 'Songbird'. Would it not have been much better if he�d shown a bit of humility and thanked Noel for his work on 'Morning Glory' whilst conceding that his own forthcoming LP would do well to live up the sturdy competition of Phil Collins� 'No Jacket Required'?

It would be wise not to limit this idea to awards acceptance speeches either.

When Damon Albarn in Gorillaz guise is handing out his track by track guide to 'Plastic Beach' it would be far more interesting for him to dish the dirty on what an old fart Lou Reed was rather than lavish praising upon his roster of special guests. Alternately when festival organisers announce their line up posters to a fervent public they could do so with additional annotations for each act such �piss and pint break� next to James Blunt�s early evening Pyramid Stage slot.

The possibilities for a more frank approach to music and marketing are virtually limitless so let�s all put on our thinking caps, bust some chops and most importantly lavish praise upon Frank Blank for stepping out of a wilderness of untruths into a veritable paradise of candid conversation. Afterall, it's worked for Tiger Woods.

They come with Pretty Green tag , a new set of colour options (including colours darker than the cream pictured here - brown, blue and black) and the stitching and sole are colour co-ordinated. The laces are probably a bit 'u' on the usual too,

Noel Gallagher Calls in His Lawyers

Noel Gallagher is consulting his lawyers over an article in today's News of the World attributing derogative remarks about his former band members to the Oasis songwriter. Yet again this tawdry tabloid is fabricating lies about ex-members of Oasis, and has clearly sunk to new depths this time.

In today's paper they write that Noel has made derogatory comments about Liam's new band (which they still insist on referring to as Oasis, another of their many errors). The claims made in the article and the quotes attributed to Noel are simply untrue.

What's more, we have learned that the article was written by the same hack journalist who brought fans the �exclusive� that Liam had recruited a female bass player recently.

The woman named in that article, who's actually a fan website editor, embarrassed the newspaper with a categorical denial within hours of the story surfacing.

Noel Gallagher: "John Terry is a c***"

Few people are fond of love rat John Terry these days - and certainly not Noel Gallagher.

The die-hard Manchester City fan has never hidden his dislike for the Chelsea skipper and now admits he has joined the ever-growing Team Bridge.

I bumped into the mouthy Manc this week and he couldn't wait to fry JT - allegedly caught playing away with Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel.

The ex-Oasis star, 42, told me: "John Terry is a c***." (I'll let you work out the asterisks.)

"I've never liked the bloke but doing that to Bridgey shows what he's like. What an a***hole. If I ever see him I'm not sure what would happen.

"Everyone has got behind Wayne, which is great to see. When Chelsea come to play us Terry is going to get so much s*** and he'll deserve all of it. I hope our boys give him as much abuse as they can and here's a message to the fans - "Give it all you've got".

Noel was enjoying a night out at the War Child concert in London following the Brit Awards on Tuesday when he entertained me with his rant about Terry, 29, who was last month exposed for supposedly scoring with Vanessa, 34.

In July, at the time of speculation that Terry could be joining 29-year-old Bridge at Man City, Noel told of his utter disgust at the planned move. He said: "I don't like John Terry and I never have.

"He's got funny eyes and he's a cry-baby. He's also a Cockney."

His outburst was certainly well timed, as Manchester City visit Chelsea this Saturday.

Noel, left, added: "The best thing City ever did was not sign John Terry. It would have been a huge mistake.

"Now I can't wait to see the s*** he gets and I'll laugh my head off."

An intoxicated Daniel Sullivan pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm when with a drunken violent shove pushed guitarist/song writer Noel Gallagher from behind and off stage into a bank of speaker amplifiers breaking three of his ribs.

The incident occurred back in September 2008 during the Virgin Music Festival on the Toronto Island.

Earlier this month of February, Toronto man Daniel (Danny) Sullivan, a now 48 year old from Pickering Ontario, attended a sentencing hearing at downtown Toronto's Old City Hall courthouse.

Daniel Sullivan, who is married with children, has never before been in trouble with the law and John Collins (Daniel Sullivan's lawyer) said that this incident was �totally out of character" and that in light of his client's otherwise �exemplary� track record, he would be seeking a conditional, non-custodial sentence. Noel Gallagher stated that it took him about eight months to fully recover. Parallel to the criminal proceedings, Gallagher filed a statement of claim against his attacker Daniel Sullivan (originally charged with aggravated assault), seeking more than $2 million in damages from Sullivan for compromising his ability to perform and having to cancel five gigs. However, prosecutors eventually agreed to the lesser charge of assault.
